I don't know how may of you watched the 6.30pm highlight show on BBC2?
Based on the ignorant comments made by Leroy Rosenior and Kevin Kilbane I have submitted the following complaint to the BBC
I would like to commend BBC Sport on their coverage of the FA Cup 1st Round, but I can’t, because of comments made by your studio experts Following brief highlights of my club’s 0-0 draw at Stevenage, Leroy Rosenior and Kevin Kilbane were invited to express an opinion on the replay, which will take place on our artificial pitch. Fair enough, it is a hot topic but what I did not expect was the ignorance that followed. They proceeded to express their hope that the Stones pitch was nothing like the artificial pitches they played on in the 80s & 90s (it isn’t) and implied that Stevenage would do their research and not use it as an excuse if they lost. My anger is directed at the misrepresentation provided regarding the current situation surrounding artificial pitches in football. They should be made aware that the surface is exactly the same as many Premier League clubs train on daily, is fully approved for Internationals and UEFA competitions, is used throughout Scottish professional football and more importantly, plays just like a very good turf surface. I feel that some sort of apology or retraction during the BBC’s coverage of the replays is very much in order, or better still a feature on great strides forwards in artificial surfaces since the abominations at QPR, Preston etc. I am not interested in stifling debate, but I would hope that the BBC would would discharge it’s responsibility to present informed comment in a much better fashion, as it did not today.
Anyone else see it and feel the same?
Haven't let it ruin an absolutely brilliant day though

Felt the same after watching the show Moley - obviously 2 ex players living in the past although they did say that 3g had improved but still pretty ignorant comments. Will be interesting to see what response ( if any ) that you get from the BBC.

Agree, very ignorant and unbalanced comments from Rosenior and Kilbane.
Also, on the commentary of the (very) brief highlights of the game, they said 'Maidstone are 54 places below Stevenage in the league pyramid, and that gap became apparent in the 1st half'. No mention of us having the better of the opening half hour at all.

I skipped through Final Score and they made us sound the better team so it's strange they had a bit of a different tone in the highlights. They definitely put a very negative spin on 3G, even though I don't agree I hope it does give us an advantage.

Couldn't believe that two paid pundits, both former professional players, would come out with such rubbish.
Only advantage Maidstone players would have with the surface is that they don't have any reservations when playing which are based on unfounded fears that it can cause more injuries or so on.

Working my way through "Final Score" the sad bastard I am. As per Captain Mosh, completely different from the highlights. Not showing too much at all to be fair - however they're loving our support (mentioned every time) and seems to be an accurate description of game whenever the bother with it.

Did you see the state of Coventry's pitch? Will now have rubgy played on it every other week, will be a total mess by the end of the winter.

You can burn, on average, 100 calories an hour banging you head against a wall.

If a team cannot play good football on a 3G pitch then it says a lot about the team in my opinion. You can play any style of footie on 3G the only difference is that the ball doesn't bounce around on lumps.

Plus just noticed on page 2 in the nlp about conference not sure now what to do next about the 3g pitches now . . Such a shame as I thought this3g debate was sorted out It's down to self-important Conference officials worrying that if one of their clubs wins the league with a 3G pitch they won't be able to take their place in the Football League, therefore the Conference will somehow look inadequate - a bit like when the likes of Stevenage Borough were refused promotion on ground grading criteria in the past. A lot of people seemed to think it was a formality that the Football League would approve 3G (in fact I'm fairly sure we're up to 4G now) pitches, and now it hasn't happened (yet) the Conference are backtracking. If the Isthmian League were similarly short-sighted (and the county leagues below that) we'd never get anywhere. The critics always seem to compare artificial pitches with perfect grass pitches; well, some actually like to see games played on a quagmire but that doesn't really happen anymore as the game will be abandoned or called off nowadays. It's more relevant to compare them with poor grass pitches. The classic Maidstone v Dulwich game last March was the first match I'd seen for about three months that wasn't spoiled by players struggling to run with or control the ball a on bumpy uneven surface, or slipping over like circus clowns on a near-waterlogged mudbath. The opening goal of that match by Hamlet's Nyren Clunis (dribbling from out wide on the half way line and beating the keeper with a terrific shot from the edge of the box) was voted goal of the season by Hamlet supporters, but he probably wouldn't have been able to keep control of the ball for long enough to score it on any other Isthmian League pitch at that time of year. Then again perhaps not, as this similar effort was voted out goal of the season the previous year: www.pitchero.com/clubs/dulwichhamlet/videos/dulwich-hamlet-3--0-whitstable-town-on-the-2332013-goal-by-nyren-clunis-38199.html
