Some of you lot need a reality check. We were never gonna win the league this year, even a play off place was beyond the expectations of most sensible people. Yep, average crowds of over 2 times our closest rivals, how could any of us possibly expect to be challenging for the league this year. Sorry, but anything short of the play offs would be embarrasing. I'm sure the reasons Mr Ash is threatening to take the Conference to court 'right now' over 3g pitches, at some expense, are so we can meander in the mid reaches of the Ryman premier league for the next few seasons. I think you'll find the boards expectations may be higher too and it is you who needs the reality check.

Some of you lot need a reality check. We were never gonna win the league this year, even a play off place was beyond the expectations of most sensible people. On what grounds do you say this? From what we saw of this division last season, it looked pretty much the same as the South - a couple of better teams, maybe, but most looked pretty average and beatable. And with our income and resources, I think it was entirely feasible to expect us to get to the play-offs at least in our first season - especially with the momentum of winning/going up (ditto Dulwich). My personal expectation was the play-offs, although not necessarily promotion - although even that was based more on personal caution than any real evaluation. As it turned out, the play-offs looked easily within our reach, so naturally the next target was automatic promotion. And, don't forget, up to December, and before the sudden rise of Wealdstone, this looked entirely reasonable. Even now, if Wealdstone stumble a little with their packed fixture list, and Jay can sort out the team and get our confidence back and get us converting our chances again, I don't see why we wouldn't expect to be in the race for the Championship come April - and certainly in a strong position in the play-offs.

On promotion i expected us to consolidate in the prem before mounting a challenge the following year.
During the summer and through this season we had much hyped signings which everyone interpreted as a statement of intent. Bookies favourite and all that.
Having said that if we get in the playoffs we would still have had a pretty good season. Anything less than that im afraid will be considered failure.
Having got ourselves in a position to challenge for the title and the afor mentioned hype its no great wonder that expectations are high. You have to say two 4 - 1 reverses against sides way down the league and our apparently fragile defence its no great wonder that frustration is creeping in

I expected us to be toying with the lower play-off positions although this was based on there being more heavyweight contenders for the title. As it is I only see the only sides likey to stop Wealdstone are us or Dulwich.

Large crowds or not, we knew the rules at the start of the season, we knew we couldn't go up so why would Oliver and Co give Jay a budget to go all out and win the league?
And considering an FA ruling dictates we can't compete in the play offs isn't finishing in them going to get the FA to take a little mor notice?
In terms of long term game plan I'd say we were in a perfect position

It means that, after many years, you have learnt a lot and are now, by agreeing with me, recognising what is right. It could be more scary. You could be with the lowlife dissenters like Dave U, Tim and Heathside

Considering the club have only been going since 2012, I think we are doing well, what's the rush

I'm sorry to disappoint everyone who thinks big crowds = big budget. It doesn't. Why would we spunk all the money on the team when we've got close to 3000000 to pay off on the stadium.

We shouldn't be and I'm more than happy with having a competitive budget in the top ten or so.
But budget aside we had managed to get ourselves in a strong position only to see it drift away with inconsistency

Why would you spunk all that money on court fees to get 3g pitches agreed in the Conference for next season, if your expectation was to stay in the Ryman Premier.
