Proper journalistic sensationalist reporting at best or falling in line with the conference propaganda machine.
Bad bad Maidstone ruining rhe conference what a joke!
If they werent so bloody ignorant of the facts 3g would be approved unanimously and would stabilise clubs financially that chose to install one yet this is being presented as us being thw anti-christ of the football world one word - TOSSERS not feeling Mellow today

Funny how the conference chairman mentions "blackmail" but fails to point out when we first tried to talk about this matter.
The application process totally invites this sort of issue, and he is quite happy to let Maidstone United have mud slung in their direction.
What I find interesting is the way he constantly hides behind the vote as if the vote was aimed at protecting its members. When in reality he is just a puppet to the premier league and the football league.
Good that he also offered a solution to the current issues his members are facing with postponements and financial instability.
Happy to talk about the costs to clubs for fighting against common sense but avoids talking about costs associated with postponements. I wonder which is a greater cost

I wonder which is a greater cost Absolutely agree costs over legal action are far less than that caused by postponements and the one sided presentation of this argument in this weeks paper is more a conjuring trick than any sort of reasoned view. Also omits how he was willing to attend the Gallagher for discussions and then cancelled out of hand and refused to discus the issue in any measure which forced the club to look at the legal options This mess is entirely of the Conferences making

No wonder Skrill are finishing their sponsorship early.

Smells like the aroma of burning martyr is in the air. " mud slung in their direction"...no chance of that on tippy tap carpets, just anti-football.

You are also aware that one of the reporters for the NLP is also the sponsorship manager for Skrill

I think the chairman of the conference looks a bit of an idiot in this article as he basically admits that he expects to lose any court case which is why he feels blackmailed. I have still to hear what the conference's defence will be in court. Does anyone know? If you list the leagues that accept 3g.. champions league, world cup qualifiers, scottish league, welsh league, kent league, ryman league, suburban league etc etc his clubs' position looks flawed at best and daft at worst. If his member clubs want to waste their money stopping something that would benefit them and their league then so be it. What is it they say about fools and their money...

His words are also a bit of an insult to all those leagues, considering the Ryman League also urged acceptance. He is also admitting to weak leadership as I don't recall the ryman league putting it to a vote ?

The thing is, the Conference rules were not altered by the EGM
Brian Lee seems to be conveniently ignoring the fact that the Conference Board still have, and always have had, the power to allow artificial pitches in their competition
Mr Lee has been given a choice:-
1) Negotiations on the 3G issue with the Conference Board sanctioning use on their terms with no costs 2) Legal proceedings, with the associated huge costs to the Conference and the sanctioning of 3G under terms imposed by a judge or, even worse, the FA
Bit of a no-brainer, but as Mr Lee appears to be gambling a lot of Conference money on a battle they won't win, perhaps he should be considering his position
And blackmail is a very strong accusation to make, perhaps, as well as taking advice on anti-competition law he should also study the law of libel

I haven't yet seen NLP, but after all the pro 3G articles in The Times, Express etc some attempt to fightback was only to be expected, but it all sounds rather desperate stuff when they are losing the argument. They still have the sensible option to allow 3G in Conf N & S which would probably buy them a few years to sort out a long term solution with the Football League, safeguarding promotion & relegation with League 2, which is what they are worried about. But legal action looks like the only way to stop them carrying on with a 'head-in-the sand' approach to this.
If they think they will lose the legal argument (then the FL would lose it too) their best approach would surely be to negotiate 3G in Conf S & N in 2014/5, Conf Nat 2016/7 & L2 2018/9 to give everyone time to adjust. We could surely live with that.

What is clear is this debate is dividing the supporters of most other clubs and at the same time uniting Maidstone fans.
