Whilst I thought Rooney did well, I think to bring him straight in & play with a 3 man midfield really disrupted what we've done well for the last few weeks. Zac was played out wide & long balls pumped up to Frannie didn't stick. Really think we should have kept the side the same & brought Rooney on to help Mickey/ Alex later on. It was only really when Kaiyne came on that we started to look dangerous. I do however think the ref should have sent their keeper off for the pen and he made a few other strange (wrong) decisions.

Agreed. Rooney & Collin play in the same position so including both disrupted the style of play. Yes much better when Woolery came on and yes Rooney should have been a sub. I thought the ref was OK.

Thought I was going to see our first defeat at home today. We were certainly out played most of the time. Have to agree the team changes didn't help. Just like when we had all of the team changes due to injury. Filsh had Tom played their normal competent game on the left, well done. Rooney looks OK, let's hope he settles in quickly. I'm thinking of starting a campaign for 'Grass for the Gallagher'. I have not seen a visiting team play at the Gallagher and not put in good performances. If they all get 3G what will our away performance be like when they all play better at home?

I'm one of Jay's biggest fans, but thought we simply got the tactics wrong today. We've just won the last 2 league games 7-2 and 3-0 and I'd have liked to have seen the same team as at Kingstonian rewarded for their efforts. In particular I thought it was very harsh on Woolery who played great last week.
Why we didn't stick with 4-4-2 I'm not sure, but playing a 4-2-3-1 to accommodate Rooney led to Zac out of position, Brown playing deeper than normal and Woolery on the bench. When Woolery came on our balance was better and we created more.
Hindsight of course is a wonderful thing, and on another day Rooney could have scored and been the hero. Just think this was a case of if it isn't broke don't fix it.
All that being said Rooney looked good with the ball at his feet, though he is obviously unfit. I'll blame this for the lack of tackling and tracking back he did and look forward to seeing him fully fit doing great things for the team.
Final point, Flish played great, MOM and fantastic to see him getting back to his best. His work rate was first class and an example to the rest of the team today.

What was the main feature of this match? It was windy and gusting. So what do we do? Hoof it over the top every time, well nearly every time. When the ball is on the deck we play some terrific touches. How come we don't do it more often? Thought Luke played well for first 20 then tailed off. Possibly combination of fitness AND match-play fitness. I'm sure once he has another game under his belt he will prove to be unstoppable. Some of his passes were inspired but failed because other players were not able capitalise on them. Given time he will gel with the rest of the team. MOTM Flish

4-4-2, 10 goals in 2 games. Rooney turns up for training this week (no reflection on Rooney, thought he was ok today) and Jay changes a winning system to accomodate him, basically makes Brown and Phillips inaffective and puts our best player from last week on the bench. Sorry, but Jay has got that badly wrong today.

If we had an experienced manager that had been given all the resources that Jay has been given we would be running away with this league !! 9 home draws says it all.

Jay was certainly wrong with his selection today but Rooney will be great, no doubt about that. I never see any passion from our Bench he has as much passion as Julian Clareys dick

Even more disappointed to just hear Jay's interview on Soundcloud. He said we set up with 3 in midfield because we might get overrun in there. I'm gobsmacked with that.
No disrespect to Canvey but we've just scored 10 in the last two matches, why are we setting our team up around them? They've won one in six since Christmas, are in the bottom half of the table and before today had lost the majority of their away games. We went way to Kingstonian last week and won playing 4-4-2, why would we set up around the way Canvey play when we're at home?
Unfortunately whether it was because we wanted to include Rooney or because we set up around Canvey we got it wrong tactically today. Either way mistakes happen and we move on to Tuesday and a chance to bounce straight back, but please let's play 4-4-2. COYS.

I'm afraid nothing's really changed since met police When teams come at us we're great when teams put 10 behind the ball we haven't a clue Plan B needed rather than hoof!!

Nothing against Rooney because I think he did well but the shape of the team today was just wrong. I'm not a manager but it seemed obvious from early on, certainly by half time, but it took until 65-70 mins (I might be wrong) to change it. Rooney looks a good player but so are Phillips & Brown. Don't think we have space for all 3 at the same time.
