Where has it all gone wrong ? :-)
We're top of the league, lost the fewest number of games, scored the most, let in the least, home crowds of around 1,800 and last two away games, must be 400-500 if not more Maidstone - giving most of the away teams their highest crowds of the season and some quality players.
It must be great to be a Shittingbourne fan - oh how I am so jealous of them. What a win for them yesterday in their magificent stadium, oh, they don't play in it anymore, in front of their following of 3,000 fans as mentioned by gibba yesterday. Whoops, you only get that in a season now, not in a game. And finally, off to play football at the Woodstock music festival. Oh, how I am so jealous.
Dulwich will not win all of thier ramining games, they too will drop points. Roll on Monday, 3 points at home and let's go on another unbeaten run until the end of the season.

What a horrible thread!! We lost a game of football, nothing more nothing less. Still a long way to go and dulwich WILL drop points. Before we start saying this and that about Sittingbourne, never forget that we owe a lot to them. Inevitable that the odd fan will be on here winding us up about it but doesn't mean we have to bite. Some of our fans on here should know better.

Strange game 3 red cards and so many bookings I lost count but no really nasty tackles in the whole game.Good luck to sittingbourne probably there last hurrah before they ride of into the sunset of football oblivion, beaten by falling crowds and a rent of 900 pounds a week plus utilities. As there are 2 teams already playing at woodstock will probably mean a merger with one of them so they could well end up playing in the kent invicta league with our old friends ashford.

There some highlights on sittingbourne site, though the only thing from a Maidstone perspective they show is lye first booking. may have to squint for it! Don't show no red cards or our goal or nothing.

Given some of the posts on this thread, I think a large number of people would do well to avoid this message board on a Saturday night and wait for the beer and high emotions to wear off.
Yes, the referee was poor but any attempt to physically attack the man is completely unacceptable and I hope that the culprit is banned. Also, we did lose discipline today and while Lye's red card was harsh (even one of the Sittingbourne substitutes said so) there wasn't much wrong with the other two.
It has been said that we were beaten by the referee but we also need to look at our forwards, who until the introduction of King didn't look like they were going to score. If we had taken even one of the numerous chances that we had before being reduced to ten men, then the referee's performance wouldn't have mattered.
Did people enjoy their trips to Bourne Park then? In a weird way, yesterday was a kind of nostalgic trip for me, and it was almost like the last 9 months have been some sort of wonderful dream.

I'm going to add one more thing on this and it is the result of a quick encounter with Butch Ulph this morning.
He said he was baffled by the ref (don't know about any other 'Bourne players) and said he killed the gme for both side.
He agrees that the only sending off would have been Phillips. We also both agree that maidstone players do need to learn to keep quite when any ref wants to have a chat with them.
It would be wise, however passionate you feel, to walk away and not talk yourself into the book.
And what about Toms hair. Did no one else notice?

And what about Toms hair. Did no one else notice? Clearly the ref didn't. That hair is surely a bookable offence Agree that the ref was awful, but that doesn't excuse the Stones lack of ability to score. We could have been out of sight long before Lye's sending off, and could still have got back in it even after that. Neither Shaun nor Draycott had a good game. I'd also agree that there can be no excuse for physically attacking a ref. Verbals is one thing, but that is unacceptable. Not sure there can be much of an excuse for crowd baiting by players either. They may have taken a fair bit of abuse, although the ref did a good job of taking the heat off them, but there was no need for gesturing to an already wound up group of fans to "come and have a go" (my interpretation of the "come on" waving from Bourne players). All in all, not our finest day, but still all to play for. I also hope that Sittingbourne manage to survive. As much as I love us to beat them on the pitch, they twice gave us a home when we needed one.

The voice of reason as always, Russ...cant disagree with any of that.
Hythe aside, when was the last time Shaun had a good game? People were saying we had too many midfielders...nice of Danny and Mickey to give the others a chance now.
StonedProf's idea appears to be a good one as well.

As much as I love us to beat them on the pitch, they twice gave us a home when we needed one. Indeed. Somehow, though, I'm not sure that moving even further out of town (Woodstock Sports' location is rather like Ashford United's) will be good for them. Indeed, while I don't know what sort of condition it was in, leaving the Bull Ground for Central Park would seem to have been a mistake, in hindsight. Similarly for Ashford moving from Essella Park to Homelands. I would imagine that getting Woodstock's ground up to standard wouldn't be too hard. Given that most of the structures at Bourne Park are of the "semi-permanent" variety, I could see them being moved with the club, particularly the main stand, which is easily Bourne Park's best feature as it offers quite a good view. I'm still not convinced that Draycott and Welford are a good strike partnership. King surely has to start tomorrow given his performance yesterday.

In a weird way, yesterday was a kind of nostalgic trip for me, and it was almost like the last 9 months have been some sort of wonderful dream. Voice of reason prof. I deliberately didn't post on this forum last night. Thought it better to calm down a bit first. Yes the ref was poor, but there is no excuse for rank stupidity, and that is exactly what Sobers and Hill displayed when talking themselves into yellow cards, especially as Hill had Micky Philips trying to drag him away. Both Lye's cautions were harsh, but probably a direct result of the Sobers' and Hill's dissent. In my opinion there were three correct yellow cards in the game, Sobers and Hill, and Micky Philips second one. Golding's red should have been a yellow at worst, and possibly not even that. Finally, if we'd taken our chances the ref's performance wouldn't have mattered. It wasn't the ref who ultimately denied us three points. It was our lack of quality in front of goal. We never looked like scoring until King came on and hopefully we can start with him and Ade up front against Ramsgate.

I was gone quite quickly so did not see any scuffle. I can understand people being very angry with such a level of incompetence from the man in black (let's face it he was pretty dire both ways in the second half with players openly laughong at his ludicrous decisions) but there is no need for physical retrubution, I thought we played a bit disjointedly but still did enough to beat a poor Sittingbourne side. The toruble was that every time we got in the box the referee blew for a free kick for a foul that had never happened. When one did happen right in front of him (i.e. Draycott being unable to run for the ball because the defender had his shirt and was dragging him backwards) he saw nothing wrong. Utterly clueless. If the club do not wish to report that then can someone give me an address to write to about him because he was not just poor he was utterly devoid of any idea on how to run a football match. If I had know that is what was on offer today I would have saved my money and stayed in bed.I thought you had done. I wandered round the ground a couple of times looking for you to buy you that pint I promised. Someone of your height should be easy to spot but I didn't see you.

Actually, I'm now a bit worried. Of the two Easter games I thought Saturday's would be the easier one. We know that Ramsgate are a well-organised side, and they beat us down there on Boxing Day. They will enjoy playing on our perfect surface. A win is essential for us tomorrow:
1) to regain confidence; 2) to keep the pressure on the 'amlet.
Let's hope some of our injured squad are OK by tomorrow.

apparently, the referee was seen crying in his changing room after the game, hes used to 100 fans a week, the league need to give referees who can handle the pressure of the fans.
