Tim O picked up a knock training in the week. Jay didnt think it worth the risk in starting him as we have some big games coming up. He used the squad.

This thread is brilliant - it evolved from comments on the game into people moaning about supporters making clearly ironic comments about Kingy and then into Danny Lye's abilities being questioned!
God help us if we were stuck in a mid-table mediocre season!

If Micky Phillips is Iniesta, Danny Lye is Xavi.

on a positive note, I think greenhalgh looks very promising and I would be pleased to see him get some more game time. Ben's apparently got a trial in Scotland next week, so if that goes well for him you won't be getting your wish! As for Danny Lye, he's certainly no cult hero. He breaks up play and knows his capabilities/limitations. Right, who's next on the hitlist? The new goalkeeper looked poor...

On 19 October 2011 Stones beat Merstham 6 - 0 ( at Sittingbourne ) in the good old Ryman League Cup. One of the goals was " a spectacular strike from the edge of the box " by D Lye. Actually remember this one, more like a scooped drive into the top corner from 25 yards. So how can you tell me this guy has no skill........... [ By the way, thanks for provoking me into wasting 20 minutes researching this matter............ ].

The old London Road ground Had its Critics Corner ,The old stadium is long gone but the spirit of that lump of terracing is alive and well and spread its self to the web In my 40 years watching the Stones the supporters have always slagged off at least one player in the side .Remember Micky Dingwall .

I remember that goal, a real cracker. Doesn't change the fact that he's clumsy, gives away too many free kicks and has ll the finesse of a charging rhino. Other than that he's not too bad.

If Ben has a trial in Scotland then Flish and mills could b tapped up as both look better than this kid,(I'm not flagging him off just commenting on how good our left side is)

Who would you rather have by your side in the Ryman 1 South trenches Dave, a charging rhino could be really useful....... [ remember the real rhino - ?? Mark Horan ?? - signed from Crockenhill for us in the Kent League. There was a guy who could really handle himself ].

can someone explain what danny lye actually offers? is it just some sort of running joke that he gets a game? The sort of player you only really appreciate when he isn't there. You notice his mistakes more because he gets the ball a hell of a lot Agreed Tim O is better at that role but not when he has a dodgy knee he isn't, and before you ask "Why was he on the bench then?", perhaps you should consider how much defensive cover we had on the bench if Mr Ward (or Andrews) had pulled up lame? Also King's work rate appears to have launched skywards since we went 4-3-3. Whether you are or not, you can't appear lazy when next to Super Shaun or Ade O
