It's not just the pitch though is it. Surely it's under the stadium managers purview to ensure there is enough salt to help clear the stadium & immediate area in this scenario?

I'm amazed that this postponement has given some people a reason to criticize the club. I wish I could be amazed. No surprise unfortunately It's not so much the criticising of the club, it's the trying to sell 3G as the best thing since sliced bread and then seemingly a massive "whatever, snow innit" and shrug of the shoulders when it comes. Like it or not all eyes or on us at the moment as we're the ones pushing 3G. Any kind of game called off is going to provide ammo for the naysayers.

I would imagine it must be yeah. I am sure it could have been cleared and all the enterances made safe, if the pitch was playable.

Salt would have made very little difference to the amount of snow that fell. Kent Highways repeatedly salt main roads, and even then they need a certain amount of traffic for it to be effective, otherwise it just gets covered up.

I`m not criticizing the club and all those who sail in her, or at least not on purpose, but if my posts come across as such then i offer my apologies. But as Heathside has posted very well, we have fallen at the first hurdle as many clubs along with the FA will look at us and our pitch as a fore runner to the use of 3G in the future.

My sentiments exactly, i don't think anybody is criticising the club or its directors as we have a lot to be thankful for in regards to the new ground, i think a lot of the comments are just comments of disappointment that the game is being called off after rightly or wrongly believing the pitch was all conquering in the face of UK weather

Wasn't really the first hurdle was it. We have already played several games on days of mass postponements. It was always stated that heavy snow and thick fog were the only weather condidtions that would cause postponements. Salt is only effective on relatively light snowfall and even if we could clear it, 4 inches of snow takes up a hell of a lot of space. In this country, you are likely to have no more than a couple of games snowed off, whereas on grass, waterlogged or frozen pitches could easily account for another half a dozen.

its just not the pitch they have to worry about though is it?
Pathways/stands all have to be clear of snow and ice.
Unfortunately in this age of ambulance chasing laywers and the risk of MUFC being sued for half million pounds because someone slips and breaks their necks I tend to think that even with a playable pitch the game may be at risk. The clubs in a no win situation here.

I have no problems with the Folkestone game being called off, it's a Tuesday game anyway so when rearranged we'd probably have a higher attendance, and gives a rest or break for those niggling injuries to clear up However, this Saturday would be different and with the current forecast not expecting a thaw until Sunday, there must be things that can be done to try and get the game on, aren't there?

Blimey, give them a break. Spuds v Manure was supposedly in doubt a few hours before kick off yesterday. That's a PL ground with undersoil heating and an army of ground staff. Expectations a little too high from some here.
