Salisbury plain is made primarily of chalk, which is very insoluble and therefore has a high runoff

Salisbury plain is made primarily of chalk, which is very insoluble and therefore has a high runoff But you can sure blow the shit out of it, which happens regularly as the whole area above Salisbury and Stonehenge belongs to the MoD - who play war games with tanks and fast jets - and missiles Just don't wander into an impact area by mistake - you may not come out

Blimey, Sword, how do you know this stuff? I spent 2 weeks doing a history course and was based in Salisbury and got to know the area both historically and Geographically through tutors and local people. The amount of rivers and streams in the city above and below ground is astonishing.

I think it highlights fans mindset about the club more than anything. Surprised some aren’t blaming the club for the game being off today Today's game was never gonna be on. The ground is built on a flood plain and is reminiscent of Longmead before the 3G was laid. The underground rivers/streams at Salisbury mean the water table is usually pretty high during the winter months. Although some who were there claim the pitch was fine and the postponement was down to the linesman not wanting to run along the mud on the touch line.

There is a video of the pitch inspection floating around the various social media sites and to me it looked perfect but apparently it was just a 10 yard patch by the bottom corner flag where the water had built up. I'm sure a half dozen garden forks and possibly a delayed kick-off like Truro and the game could have been played. Never mind the ref and lino's got their money so they were happy.

I made the trip down there yesterday The weather got a lot worse after 2pm - even of the game had started there’s a good chance it would been abandoned anyway
