The old 'full time' question again... According to young Brooks on his YouTube, 'full time' consists of three two-hour training sessions per week (+ travelling/playing time). These six hours stretch to more like 12, as players arrive an hour early for breakfast, and take an hour for lunch afterwards (both provided by the club). So 'full time' means 12 hours a week for training, etc plus whatever is needed for match days - I would guess 5 to 6 hours for home games, up to maybe as much as 12 hours for an away game. I can't be arsed to do the maths as to how that works out for an average week, but I'm fairly certain that it comes to less than those of us who work would call a typical 'full-time' week. The argument is that this is 'full time' in effect, as it doesn't allow the player to do other work, but Brooks has two other jobs that he manages to fit in, and I would imagine he is fairly typical. So, what they actually do is what most of us would call 'part-time'. 'Full time' is basically day-time training. They get paid a lot of money for doing basically 2 days work a week, much less than that when the poor luvs are tired or injured or let's face it they just can't hack it. Full time in Non league football is just bollocks and is the reason why you and everyone else is paying a fortune to watch 90 minutes of football. Sol is probably this very minute laughing his gonads off that a club that didn't want him 4 months ago are now gonna pay him a fortune for 12 games if we are lucky. It makes my blood boil 🤬🤬🤬

Whilst I do like SWS as a player the few times I have seen him Is he meant as a direct replacement for Jon Benton?
If so I know which I believe is the better player and so can only see this move as a downgrade.

A signing that sums up the season and the current situation.

I would say Sol is smart and streetwise as a player. Doesn't necessarily have the strength and skills to back it up, but such things have their place, especially in attack. Let's face it, most visiting teams have at least one and we regularly see the refs conned by them. Don't like to see it, but it is the way of the world, so if you can't beat them... If his fitness lasts, then he could make a good foil for Blair, giving the latter a bit more time and space. Just hope George doesn't over train Sol, or I fear he won't last the course.

Going back to Sol we have a good idea of what we will get. Or we could do another Lodivica and take a blind stab in the dark and end up with a total non entity on the books!
Sol suits the pitch with his style of play and although I’m not sure he is an upgrade on Benton he is in my opinion an upgrade on many attacking options we have.
I’m not sure who we expect to sign with our clear money restraints, it would be someone else’s fringe players or a loan player that could be taken back if they play well. Pretty sure Sol was starting at Bath and scoring. Was surprised to see him missing from their squad the other day, obvious why now. I’ve chosen to be positive and if Sol reads this forum welcome back and good luck.

What a thoroughly rotten day. Cold, wet and windy! Accompanying it are our notorious harbingers of doom on the forum, who see negativity and failure at every step of the way. Happy to distance myself from that gloomy bunch. Sol mate, lots of us are very happy to see you again, wearing the old black and amber. Welcome back !

I am one of the supporters that watched the team in the London Road days. Sol is the nearest we have had to the legendary Frank Ovard since those days. He was the difference between a draw and 3 points in so many games. Bartley would guarantee a goal and Frank a penalty if needed. Sol is a different player but has the same knack of inviting a foul. With Brooks and Corne odds on penalty scorers and Seaman deadly from free kicks outside the penalty area we stand a good chance of getting that extra goal that will mean 3 points not to mention Sol is more than capable of scoring a few himself.
Sol will be an asset in the dressing room and is one of the nicest players i have had the privilege to talk to.

Sorry but you can’t mention Frank Ovard and Sol WS in the same sentence they are not comparable. The positivism for SWS return is nice but doesn’t look at the facts and smacks of desperate optimism. Sword is probably over harsh but for me SWS was a nice lad but on the pitch was a lightweitlght petulant diver who got us loads of free kick and sometimes penalties we didn’t deserve and was certainly no Aaron and is better compared with Matt Bentley. For me it’s a very odd signing that may or may not work but only time will tell.

Just wanted to say, you mentioned Sol and Frank Ovard in the same sentence having said you couldn’t do that 😅

Sol lots of promise never delivered hence letting him go. Two different sentences. Better? I think Sols return highlights more negatives than positives about the Stones right now but time will tell.

Always liked Sol and chuffed to see him back at The Gallagher. Only downside before was the amount of time he was injured. Hopefully fully fit now and with luck will stay fit.

Surprised some aren’t blaming the club for the game being off today Today's game was never gonna be on. The ground is built on a flood plain and is reminiscent of Longmead before the 3G was laid. The underground rivers/streams at Salisbury mean the water table is usually pretty high during the winter months.
