Well I guess the buck stops with Ian Tucker. From various contacts over the years I'm 100% sure he never treats supporters like nws described. But obviously there are some jobs worth type underlings who the club would be better off without. Ian knows Adrian and vice-versa. The problem is the security team dont. Ive not turned up late to see a match and Im surprised to read this account.Id no idea the light were turned off after the start- I wonder what would have happened if the Police had tried to get it. It like going to the Drs- getting through that first over-inflated barrier of officialdom. The security that check my rucksack each week are very polite and friendly. Its a shame that a post like this are necessary - As Jethro Tull sang 'Where the hell was Biggles when you needed him last saturday?'

Never had an issue with the club shop. The stewards can be a bit officious but most of them are friendly enough. I do think NWS is unrealistic expecting the turnstiles still to be manned after half time. As for bag searches, if it stops youngsters bringing in pyro or illicit booze then why not? It was HT not after HT. Not really that unreasonable So you expect them to stay in their little box until half time in case one or two people turn up. That’s unreasonable in my opinion. 10 to 15 minutes perhaps, but half the game? That’s just entitlement gone mad.

That’s clever. Being naive, I went to Wembley for the Division 1 play off final between Charlton and Sunderland with a sandwich and a quarter bottle of cabernet sauvignon. Security found this, and said I couldn’t take it into the ground. While not understanding what damage that tiny bottle could do, I complied by drinking it down in one, but remained thirsty throughout the match, thus missing the epicurean delight I had planned. Good match though.

Reminds me of Upton Park years ago - they had a policy that you could only take bottles in without a cap. So I just used to keep a spare cap in my pocket...

If you read again, there was literally nobody outside until I walked up and found someone manning the entrance for players, officials etc. However, if you feel people turning up late to a ground - because road issues have delayed them - wanting to get in as being 'entitlement gone mad' then you are 'entitlement gone mad' minus the entitlement gone. Do you find my wishing to go to the toilet as mad?

You have my sympathy nws. I expect my club to be welcoming and accommodating at all times. You could gave gone to Bearsted, Snodland, Larkfield and Lordswood in the same circumstances and you would have been made 100% welcome, no question. It's not a question of what time the gates should be manned, it's much more about being flexible, friendly and accommodating. Simply needs a 'Can do' approach. Such a pity you get these jobsworths who simply have a bad attitude. They wouldn't fit or last long in any of the local community clubs.

In his ideal world NWS still wants to be going to those places. I still don’t get why he expects the club to leave someone outside the ground for latecomers. It wasn’t their fault the traffic was bad. Seems to me some people are looking for any excuse to beat the club up.

Beating up ? NO ! Most things in the garden are rosy but don't let the weeds take over. Just pointing out there are some areas of the operation that could be done just a little better. If you just keep excusing incidents of occasional failings, where does that take you ?

It shouldn't be beyond the wit of the club to have a dedicated mobile number you can send a text to if you are locked out of the ground - or locked in a toilet thinking about it. They have them set up across the EFL to receive messages about misbehaviour as part of the ground safety conditions. As we have seen with the shenanigans around the apparent mis-treatment of fans with additional needs, where there's a will there's always a way.

Well said Nick Pointing out failings that need to improve doesn’t mean you are criticising everyone and everything. Saying the club is cold hearted to fans does not mean Ash out or bring back Jay or passing any judgement. Saying nothing negative out of fear of being seen to be critical is the pathway to wokeness that football is still thankfully one of the few places left that hasn’t sold out to a woke world.

Oh no. The W word (the other W word).
Surely pointing out the way disabled people were treated and also how NWS was treated is being woke?!

I've no real idea what 'woke' means. Ditto 'gas lighting'.
Electric lighting I'm OK with.
