Cheers for all the kind words. Doing counselling training must be having an effect, as I resisted the temptation to swear at said individual and, at FT, I opted to walk out the other exit rather than go and look for the argument. I know, a few years ago I would have gone to 'bait' Fred.
I have started back on rota work again so will have limited Saturdays off. I generally prefer away games (especially new grounds) anyway, so will request Saturdays off that coincide with these and will make very sporadic appearances at the Gallagher.

Pathetic action by the club or at least those individuals who are meant to be acting in the club's best interests.
The fact is whether thet are on the payroll or acting as volunteers these are pig ignorant and the club would be better off without them.
Can't help but feel that if the club wants these sort of people representing them, it's going in the wrong direction.

I think 'Fred' and his not so merry men should be there acting as ambassadors for the club.
Instead we have ended up with some unpleasant 'job worths' who just manage to piss off supporters big time.
We should be treated as guests of the club not as some sort of low life.

What a complete arsehole this Fred sounds.
My advice to the club 'GET RID'.

Is Stones a welcoming club ?
I hate to admit it, but the answer is no !
A while back I used to be met by friendly, smiling faces, but over recent seasons there has been a change for the worse.
Such a pity. Whenever I've bumped into Terry and Oliver they have always come over so positively and welcoming. George is great to speak to as well. Ian Tucker - top man. But somewhere along the line supporter respect got bombed.
The reception on the gates is now totally different to a few seasons ago sadly and some of the stewards seem to act more like prison warders. You wouldn't want to ask them for information or assistance.
We have lost so much that was good about the club. Fred and his associates seem to rule the roost these days.

Be fair to Fred, though, this was nws he was dealing with! The same nws who some years ago would often turn up at half time in order to get in without paying. Delayed karma?

There is always one🙄...lol. That happened about five times because I was at work in Tenterden until 3pm. Each time I stuck a fiver in the collection bucket, so my entrance was paid tax free. To balance your story, I once walked round Rugby in the snow and getting sponsored to raise money for Maidstone United. Sorry...you were prattling on about karma?😘

It maybe nws this week but it can just as easily be you next time.
As long as Fred and his fellow officials continue to disrespect proper Stones supporters, the Gallagher experience is selling itself short.

In my experience the people in the office are really helpful, and the bar staff are usually nice and chatty when time allows.
The security / stewards awful. We’ve gone from welcoming people entering the ground to airport style pat downs and bag searches. I’m 57 and in the main stand for gods sake!
Not sure what to make of the club shop. Can never get anything online so chanced my luck popping down to get a shirt for my nephew. Was made to feel like a burden by the woman who runs it who told me off for having the audacity to actually want to spend money with the club. Hopefully she was just having an off day.

Sadly stoneme your experience mirrors that for most of us. Wierd that a volunteer in the club shop feels serving supporters is doing them a favour. But where things are now much, much worse, is that attitude of security and some stewards who seem to assume that we are all potential hooligans ready to cause bovver.

The security outside the turnstiles is completely the fault of a minority of our own fans.

Why is it so different at Tonbridge then ? The stewards there treat us all like honored guests, they are proper friendly and welcoming. It def affects people's attitudes and the way they behave. "Treat unto others" and all that. Same at lots of other clubs too.

not good to read and I agree that the stewards at the turnstiles are pretty unpleasant
but to add a little balance, I spoke to some of the Hornchurch fans yesterday and they were very complimentary about our setup and how welcome they'd been made
interestingly they also said how well it compared to the horrible experience they'd had at Chatham last season - lots of trouble then apparently
