Talking of Cup games... Sat 2/11 (Bath away, or - whisper it quietly - possibly the FAC 1st round proper) is in the middle of a 4 day shutdown of the Medway Valley line from Paddock Wood to Maidstone West (31/10-3/11). So, if anyone was planning on traveling on that line that day, they won't be able to.

Unless they take a replacement rail bus, or the 101 to Chatham station.

Unless they take a replacement rail bus, or the 101 to Chatham station. Trains will still be running between Maidstone West & Strood. It's only the section to Paddock Wood from Maidstone West that's affected.

Travelling on that line (followed by a curry in Paddock Wood) has been on my bucket list since I retired. I suppose I had better get on with it before Labour remove my bus pass, needed to get to Maidstone West.

I am reliably informed that OAP and disabled bus passes are safe, to remove them would be catastrophic for local economies at a time when things are already desperate on the High streets.

Just the sort of line that would now be a heritage railway in other parts of the country. Fortunately for us, it's seen by the powers that be as an essential relief line and freight route. On train nerd topics - we had another stream hauled special come through ME yesterday - which I again missed! Is there any (easy) way of finding out when these things are due??

RailAdvent is the go to site for steam specials.

The FA Cup thread has been derailed / hit the buffers (choose your pun). I know we are playing a train station on Saturday but this takes the mick
