Just got back from a trip to St Andrews in bonny Scotland - where I discovered that St Andrews United FC's ground is just 200m from my daughter's new house!
They play in the East of Scotland Football League Premier League, which is roughly comparable (league structure only!) to NS (ie it's two steps away from their L2).
Which made me wonder where we'd be if we played in the Scottish system? (clearly not in the East of Scotland Premier!)
Anyone familiar enough with Scotish football to answer this?
On attendance alone, we'd be mid-table in the Scottish Championship!

We would easily hold our own in SL1 ,possibly championship. Standards of Scottish clubs is very poor but you have to see for your own eyes at just how bad some of them are. I usually watch Scottush lower league action on BBC ALBA purely for the fun of watching 2 clueless pub sides kicking lumps put of each other. The usual SPL(Scottish pub league) kicks off on Saturday and the 38 week 2 horse race begins with 10 other clubs battling it outfox relegation. Rangers and Celtic would struggle in the English championship where the majority of clubs will not roll over and die like the SPL clubs. They would eventually reach the Prem league but would struggle to qualify for European places. My team is Dalbeattie Star who are diabolical at the moment and they would struggle to beat the likes of Snodland or Besrsted.

Respect Sword. Your knowledge of non league and obscure football teams is unrivalled and always interesting.

Lived in Elgin and buckie. Was manager of buckie rovers and the standard of football although quite poor, there was some excellent moments, both good and bad. Had some good laughs and also saw some great fights, most for no reason, and some awesome grounds.
Mufc at least championship and also hold there own.

An even more intersting question would be where would the Lionesses find a level in the Scottish leagues?

When the late Tommy Burns (Celtic legend) took over at Reading he signed about half a dozen players that were established in the SPL. They couldn't avoid relegation from what is now the championship and they looked worse than average in the English 3rd flight.
My guess is the National league South is roughly just below Scottish championship standard.

Looking purely at stadium capacities we are much more Scottish League One and on stadiums Scottish Championship looks more like National League. However on attendances we would be in the Championship. On that basis we would probably yo yo between the two. I think Livingston and Morton would he difficult for us to beat. Don’t forget in our league we are playing the likes of Chippenham and Truro - are we saying they are also Scottish Championship level? And Worthing? I don’t think so. SL1 is more realistic for me.

For my sins I worked in Scotland for 2 years and so saw, Stirling Albion, Falkirk, Stenhousemuir and East Stirling. Of these I would say only Falkirk could give us a game so that is similar to what @longgone said above. East Stirling were the equivalent of a pub team and got relegated out of the league soon after I left the area. We used to play 5-a-side on East Stirling's training ground and it was a dire surface, like the original plastic pitches but hadn't been replaced in 20 years.

The state of Scottish football is inevitable. Any good players are snapped up by Celtic/Rangers, or the Premier League, leaving only the dreck to plough their furrow, possibly literally on those pitches. That doesn’t explain however why the national team is so poor.

Having located the small ground I stopped and asked a local the best place to park his reply " aye! If you turn around 180 and head down the road until you come to the border then f**k off back to England and park where you f**king like". Needless to say i ignored him and located a spot between the giant potholes that plagued the area and hoping that when I got back the car wasn't at the bottom of an old collapsed mine shaft which is what the potholes looked like. The game was against local giants Stenhousemuir fc and a crowd of around 600 had braved the chilling East wind to watch a terrible game that finished 1-1. At one point a woman shouted " East Stirling,ye are f**king shite". I looked at the bloke next to me and he said "och! take no notice of her, that's the chairman's wife"😁

On the basis that Lamar Reynolds, by no means our best player, seems to have slotted into the Morton first team, and they finished 5th in the Championship last year, I’d say mid-Champ would be perfectly achievable!

My cousin,Robert Scott played for East Fife ( raw, burly, brawny centre forward) around 30 years ago. He scored at Ibrox v Rangers. He always said outside the top division, the teams might as well have been amateur, they were that weak. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Scott_(footballer,_born_1964)

On the bench yesterday, came on late in the game. Liam Sole started for Livingston but was subbed.

Your description fits him well from what I remember.

I personally think my home team Dundee would embarrass Maidstone
