I personally think my home team Dundee would embarrass Maidstone And being SPL they should, but you couldn't beat the team 200 yards down the road so I Wouldn't crow too much.

The Dundee situation is mad - you can (just about) watch the one club's game from the other club's stadium!
A rational person (ie not a football supporter) would argue that medium sized towns/cities with two teams (eg Bristol, Sheffield, Nottingham) would be able to achieve much more with a single united club.
I've never bothered to check the facts, but it seems to me that only cities/conurbations over a certain size can have more than one really successful club - London, Manchester, Birmingham, for example. (Not sure where Glasgow fits in this assumption, as the greater Glasgow areas is still relatively small, with only just over a million people.)
But this is football - where identity and club loyalty trumps 'logic' every time. Although it wasn't always like this - many (most?) modern clubs are actually amalgamations of at least two clubs historically.

Apart from Celtic and Rangers for obvious reasons and maybe Hearts and Hibs, Scottish football should’ve been regional, i.e a Dundee club, Grampian, Central, Highland. You get the picture. Maybe only 10 clubs, professional in the whole of Scotland.Everybody talks about their ‘ history ‘ but a Dundee club with maybe 25000 every week, 1 stadium. Why not. We ain’t doing fu(k all now and ain’t since my grandfather watched them in the 60’s

I am not your grandfather, Luke! But in the late 60s I made my choice of university applications based on the towns with two teams, so I could watch a match every weekend. However my A level results were so bad I ended up at Dundee, but never regretted it. Best worst matches: Dundee v Celtic; Roy and I decided to leave when Celtic went 6 - 1 up after 75 minutes. The final score was 8 - 2. Dundee Utd v Celtic; United were holding their own, until sub Lou Macari came on and scored a 90th minute winner - 2 - 1.

But if you seen them in the early 60’s they were beating European teams for fun. Think they lost to Milan in the semis of the European Cup ( apparently dubious). You know what the Italians are like. On the basis that Lamar Reynolds, by no means our best player, seems to have slotted into the Morton first team, and they finished 5th in the Championship last year, I’d say mid-Champ would be perfectly achievable! I hadn't realised just how weird Scottish football is until I checked out Morton. A league of just 10 teams, who play each other four times a season! And, although Morton finished one place off the play-offs, they also finished 7 points adrift - and only 3 points from relegation! And their gates are lower than ours! In fact, with the exception of Dundee Utd, who were promoted, their 'Championship' attendances look more like the bottom half of L2!

I follow Airdrie - no particular connection it was just a thing with a circle of friends at school in that we all picked a Scottish side and Airdrieonians just sounded good. I seem to remember one of us picking Queen of the South but as memory serves he was a Charlton fan too so there's no accounting for taste, sorry Paul if you frequent this site Airdrie made the play-offs last season so it meant an opportunity to see them on BBC Alba and by 'eck it's a rough game up there! It remains to be seen how resilient our Stones will be this season, but they'd need some serious presence and muscle to function in Scottish football at any level.

Loch Ness fc have withdrawn from the North Caledonian league. Champions from the 2022/23 Loch Ness have so far given no reason for their withdrawal.😪

What a cracking game, Threave 2-0 up and coasting to a shock but Stranraer dug deep to win it 3-2 in the 96th minute.Who needs the Champions league.
