I wonder if Earle going means no sub goalkeeper in future? Always a debatable position on the bench - good to have an actual keeper available, just in case, but are they really going to be that much better than an outfield player on the very rare occasions they are needed? And that's one-fifth of the sub options used up. Sorry to see Ezennolim and Reynolds go, as they were favourites of mine, and, I thought Chi had potential and Lamar could have been used more. Good to see Bentley given the Rolls Royce treatment... Otherwise no particular shocks given that we're staying in the NS (I would have expected to only see 3 or 4 retained if we were going up). Very sad to see all the loanees going - although, obviously, that's expected. It's perhaps a comment on the strange nature of this season (a great one, that didn't always feel like it), that this small group represents so much of the talent in the squad. I suspect it both reflects on George's pre-season recruitment problems, and his ability to chop and change as needed - and find some cracking replacements. His first season was a roller-coaster ride, and I suspect the second one will be much the same! I'm glad Earle is moving on as his talents are being wasted just standing with his feet planted in a growbag week in and week out.

Would have liked to have seen Bone, Chi and Lamar stay since we are staying in the NLS and can obviously play there but look forward to the upgrades for each of the released players. Onwards and upwards!

Agree on Sol, he has to go. Flashes of brilliance, but just not worth it.
Another thing to consider is, our recruitment needs to be better. All the players who have left mid season , and now a load more just shows the recruitment was poor.
Lets try get it right this time!

No one wants to spend their whole career watching from the sidelines.

In some games he looked like he could barely pass the ball and he looked quite heavy. I will say that the run in, he looked much better

I think George has got it spot on, the only slight surprise is Bone although he seemed to be out of favour at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see how many players who have been offered terms choose to stay with the Stones. I imagine George has a list of recruitment targets. Should be an interesting summer.

In fact, I didn't realise he was a defender at first, he seemed to spend most of his time on the wing and often at the other end of the pitch. But then I've always favoured wingers - much more exciting than midfield play. When he came back into the side, he wasn't quite the same player. There were signs he was getting back to his old self, but he didn't really get the chance to make it. Sad, but George has earn't the right to our respect in these things.

It will be interesting to see how many players who have been offered terms choose to stay with the Stones. I imagine George has a list of recruitment targets. Should be an interesting summer. I've never seen what others see in Bone. His play seemed more physical than talented, all too often he had the chance to pass, but would welly the ball instead. But I will admit to being quite impressed with him in the last few games. I think the 'problem' is that George is ambitious, he won't rest with just a side that's good enough for the NS and the play-offs, he wants the best squad he can put together, and no messing about next season - straight challenge for the championship from the off. Nice 'problem' to have! But it does mean a lot of fans miffed because their favourite players, who mostly "could have made it with a bit more time, or fewer injuries", or "had potential, and were worth hanging on to", aren't actually good enough for a serious championship bid. With George, you either consistently deliver the goods, or you're out.

With two of the retained list as yet unproven (Court and Smith), that leaves just nine as starters for next season. While ok with these, it means we are looking for more than a few newcomers, plus replacing any of those offered new terms who decide they (or their agents) fancy somewhere else. At our level, it seems pretty cut throat, with not much thought about stability. Disappointing, when we've heard all season about how 'together' the squad have been. Truth is, as already mentioned, far too much of it is about money. Understandable, I suppose, when careers are short, but I wonder if the amounts involved are really life changing? Opportunities, yes, but a few grand to waste a season or two on the sidelines at (say) Bromley (not just Levi) has to be questionable if you really enjoy playing football. Spending all that time staying fit just to be a bench warmer can't be much fun.

We have been (royal we) that the team is functional but it amazing and that we want to be challenging for the top spot next season. This isn’t going to happen by keeping the majority of the squad. There will be some players released that George hasn’t been happy with all season but had to “put up” to a certain extent,
