The Premier league will get their way and the regulator will disappear into oblivion.

I’m not so sure.
Never thought I’d see a big club like Everton at risk of relegation for financial fair play points deductions.
With a new government on the horizon, they may fall in line to avoid further regulations.

With a new government on the horizon, they may fall in line to avoid further regulations. Everton are the sacrificial lamb in this whole debacle in an attempt to show all concerned that the EPL can manage themselves without an official regulator. We can then just all look the other way about the billions pumped into some clubs by authoritarian regimes with dubious human rights records and invested oligarchs (Man City, Chelsea, Newcastle anyone?). I would only ever believe Everton were truly guilty if the has won the EPL and European Cup but the rules being set up are a means of perpetuating the status quo when it is stated as a percentage of turnover. Apologies for the directness but this whole sorry scenario really pisses me off and is contrary to sporting values.

Hard to disagree re the Premier League, though the National League chucking their hat in is a different matter. In its own way, the NL is just as bloated as the PL - except that when a PL club gets into trouble, there is always a buyer. In the NL, there is always a real danger of a club folding completely.
