This one is hard to take. After a slow start, we grew into the game and were easily the better team in the second half. Didn't take our chances though and got hit by a sucker punch, made all the worse by missing a sitter a minute earlier. Worthing can move the ball around really well, but would drive me nuts if they were my team and if they do get promoted could get eaten for breakfast next season. However, good luck to them, they rode their luck and would rather it was them than Braintree.

Can't say it wasn't coming. We are being opened up every time they attack.

Shades of Ipswich, could easily be two or three down already, but we're not... ...yet.

Our away form is much better than Worthing's home form and we only got stuffed there because we had a player sent off. Be more positive folks...

At least it is on NLTV. Worthing are a threat, for sure, but as long as we can keep eleven on the pitch, feel we have a more than decent chance. George has got them pretty well organised these days, Rush and Tanga will chase all day while in Klaas and Faal we have players who offer something a bit different. Think it could be tight, but the longer we stop them from scoring, the more frustrated they will be and that could be our best chance. Worthing, by the way are W2,D1, L3 in their last six home games, scoring 11, but also conceding eleven. We have done well away recently: W5, L1, scoring 11, but conceding just 4.

Looks like many will have to rely on National League TV to see the next game. Stoneslive commentary was very good, doing their best to be fair to both sides, with the usual caveats of course. TV streaming less so, with the picture blurring and freezing at times, but for anyone unable to make the game it is the only option. Other means also now needed just to find out when games are on. BBC sport has long been my go to for fixtures, but the website only covers National League and above now - with pointless screen space taken up with club badges. No idea what that is about. Anyway, pleased to see the Worthing game is Sunday, which works for me, as indeed will the final, if we get there, on May Day. Guess it is also a case of Come on Braintree this Saturday. A home final (Worthing nothwithstanding), would make a great end to the season - were we to win... ...National League suddenly not seeming quite so bad a prospect? My own jury still out on that, but enjoying the ride.

Ironic therefore that the keeper should have done better with Mo's shot and maybe would have done if he'd hit it cleanly. Whatever. We deserved our win for sheer tenacity. Mo Faal certainly made a difference when he came on. Corne was everywhere while Rush and Tanga kept them under pressure the whole game, which is why they eventually wilted. Aveley a really awkward side so all the better that we finally beat them.

Their keeper is definitely keeping them in the game at the moment. Way too much play acting from Aveley.

Easy to see how this will go now. Aveley will waste as much time as possible, including feining injury, inviting us forward, all eleven behind the ball etc, etc. And why not? Still doesn't feel right though and we desperately need that bit of luck, magic or both.

Inevitable, I suppose, but really sad. Great player and just an all round nice bloke. Every success for the future, Gavin, and thanks for everything. Definitely one of the good guys. A true sportsman in the Corinthian spirit and a superb athlete. Shame that his last year has been blighted by so many injuries. Hope he has good things to go on to, post football.
