How disappointing. As of this evening, the wanker barrier (sponsored by Genco) remains in place. So the game is still basically segregated. It's so strange that they seemingly refuse to remove the barrier, yet they would in the past.

And as soon as a goal is scored, you just know who will run up to the barrier to taunt the away fans.
While down in the yellow hatching, narcissists with their back to the game will be seeking attention, while kids unable to see the game will be moved from the Town End perimeter fence.
It’s staggering how wrong we are getting this during the most successful season in our history.

Wel it is 100% the most successful financially. Playing wise its got to be right up there and given our FA cup run, maybe it is the best ever. Off the field ? The segregation arrangements and division of the Genco remains disappointing, to say the least.

Totally agree. Play offs were the target and the cup run has been all about living the dream. George is a great manager too. So apart from the club not sorting out the Genco for Stones supporters, we have every reason to be very happy.

This not aimed at any individual on this forum and I get the frustration. I have stood on the Genco many times and it's a crying shame it's not a Maidstone only stand. But, it's easy for us all to forget that our 'solutions' have a direct impact on the owners' bank balances. They don't need us to tell them that it's not ideal to have the biggest stand segregated. The TE stand itself would be perfect but it is right next to the bar and main entrance. That's not an easy place to segregate and, likely, costly to effectively achieve.. I'm sure Terry and Oliver would love to hear ideas that are virtually cost free and avoids obvious pitfalls. Personally, I don't blame them for not spending all of the cup windfall. Years ago they said they'd already put in more money than they wanted to. They were on the verge of virtually begging for money before the cup run. They are not the problem. We all are. We either don't have the money ourselves or, for some lucky individuals, do have the money but aren't willing to fork out. Let's not blame the two people who actually are fronting up with the cash. Please can you explain why the Genco Stand was not built at the Town End ? That's an excellent question. And one I'd never thought of! I'd guess that there isn't room at the TE, because of all the huts/shops/etc - I'm pretty sure there will be H&S rules about having a certain clearance behind the stand to get emergency vehicles, etc through. Whereas we had spare land to expand into at the other end. Still, odd how no one has ever asked that question in all this time!

Pretty sure you have guessed wrong. The club has made it clear in the long term plan that it wishes to incorporate a Genco type stand at the Town End, possibly even larger, with even more built in facilities. Presumably some of the car park would be lost. Everything seems up in the air and not a lot of sense.

Please, please, Terry and Oliver, put your heads together and find a way to dedicate the Genco Stand for Stones supporters.

I think I remember Oliver saying the town end is planned to be developed last because once it’s built access to develop the rest of the ground is very restricted. Not sure if that was the case when the Genco was built, but I can’t see how it would be an issue for the river side.

The police can (and have in the past) overrule the clubs preference and force the game to be segregated. The clubs bed wetting security officer is the one who has imposed almost permanent segregation since the spate of issues. Not sure the council have any power to do with the whole thing, but the police definitely can have input. I imagine the club are not segregating this one to ‘see how it goes’ I guess. Seems trivial to me - wish we’d just go no segregation (aside from the obvious ones) Seriously did you not read before posting? 'The police can and have.... not sure council....' the best is last, see how it goes! I seriously can't believe you posted that. See how it goes, unbelievable?! Oh that didn't go well ten dead, mass fighting, flares best segregate next time. I mean… it’s a fact the police can dictate whether segregation is in place at any Club Not saying that’s the reason we have it all the time but it’s a fact. Yes the club will be ‘seeing how it goes’ - no issues today and I’m sure they will reassess the policy for next season. Not sure there’s an issue with anything I said?

But is does cast some doubt on some forum posts that suggest the real culprits on segregation and barriers are the police rather than the club.

Hoping for an enjoyable match today with both sets of supporters mingling and getting on together.
Support, drums, chanting and banter, bring it on !
Plenty to look forward to, just like golden times.
