Two things puzzle me about the Cup money: 1. It doesn't seem as much as we thought it might be, in fact it seems to be rapidly disappearing altogether. And yet Cup runs are always talked about in terms of once in a blue moon opportunities to spend on important things. When we asked how lowly Sutton could afford promotion to the League (including replacing their pitch), we were told it was because of their Cup run... Both these things can't be true. 2) We needed a new pitch and TE toilets anyway - even before the Cup run, so these must have been budgeted for. So, how come all this extra money is going to be used up doing things that we (apparently) already had the money budgeted for? Ultimately we will never know what is spent and when and where.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I recall Sutton doing a deal with the Sun for a shed load of cash? They did. The advantage of playing Arsenal instead of Coventry And Arsenal donated their gate receipts to Sutton.

Not true anyhow.
Arsenal offered Sutton its share of the gate receipts but the FA in its kindness vetoed it saying it was against the rules.
Arsenal got around the rules by 'investing' £50k into the club, by way of stadium improvements.

Back to the subject in hand… I think they should start afresh next season. Segregate the games that need it and just try and be a non-league club again for the majority of the games.. Put in place a decent head steward or security team and operate a (near to) zero tolerance to trouble. Make it clear that if the rules aren’t adhered ti then then segregation will be back in place.
Selling this to the decision makers be they club, council or OB will be hard though.

The management of the club cannot see that there is a problem. The Council and Police see the £ signs so in their minds this is not a problem to solve.

The skillset of security is lacking. - I think this is accepted as a fact. This is the biggest thing (other than infrastructure change) that needs addressing. The management of the club cannot see that there is a problem. They're not stupid. I am sure they know it isn't ideal but what can they do if the council and police are in fact having the input they are (other than infrastructure change)The Council and Police see the £ signs so in their minds this is not a problem to solve. Who can blame them really? It should be for the club to manage. We need to plead a case that we will get our house in order by sorting the stewarding and reacting to fan misbeahaviour (i.e thrown out and banned).

Light at the end of the tunnel? Hampton & Richmond unsegregated, despite them bringing more than many others. It remains to be seen if the barrier and scaffolding disappears for true desegregation. Message to the kids and their old hangers on: Don’t f**king ruin it for the rest of us. Let’s show the club management how true Maidstone United fans can behave.

Then it won’t be unsegregated. Might have a mooch across the railway bridge later.

Can those informed forum members explain why the council and police have decided this match can be unsegregated. Whenever Stones fans have criticised the segregation arrangements this season we have been told by the usual suspects that the club have no control because its decided by a combination of the police and council. So how as this decision been taken or have you been feeding us a load of bollocks all the time ?
