But what you forget is that COVID season impacted everything in terms of income, pitch hire etc, hiring out the Spitfire lounge for events etc If the cost of the new pitch is £500k then you put away £65k a season this gives you £520k so you have spare in case one season you come up slightly short, but when you lose a whole season you come up a long way short of your target. You could say the club could do things to draw the money back in like raise the pitch hire/spitfire lounge cost but then you also lose business that way as Sword mentioned other teams also have 3g and offer pitch hire etc. At the moment i am not sure what/how this Lotto scheme will work, but the club have in the past done things like 50/50 draws, golden goal etc which have not been around for a few years, which whilst not huge money making deals did help the club raise some small funds. Maybe those complaining about the fans being asked to partake in a lotto scheme think that the money to pay for the pitch should be taken form the playing budget. I thought it already had! Yeah it has, hence the lower standards in the squad , plus the lack of depth

Depends on the intention.
No question that George has to manage with a reduced playing budget.
It follows that there are some players that he would have liked were simply not interested at the level of wages on offer.
But George would have done his best. A bigger playing budget may well have resulted in a stronger squad both in quality and depth.
Statement of the obvious really, nothing to do with being amber tinted or negative.
Just seems that there are a few supporters in the forum who revel in their glass being half empty.

The simple answer would be for the club to just tell us. Maybe they kept quiet initially, not wanting to put players off signing for us, though given the number of basket cases around, don't for a minute believe we are that bad. However, saying funds are less, and why, puts a stop to most of the whining, because most fans do understand. Communication remains a bit of a weakness, I'm afraid.

Of course funds are down, we’ve just been relegated. The club have publicly said we will adjust by having a smaller fitter squad, hence no risks with Luque. They’ve told us how new signings will be chosen. What more would we expect them to tell us? This smacks of the “nothing is happening” nonsense during preseason. I’m perfectly happy with the potential of the squad assembled; this is the core for the whole season; let’s see how it plays out. We may even be pleasantly surprised.

Nice one Bernie. My own feeling is that George has recruited pretty well with the onus being on olayers being young, fit and hungry. Still a question or two over fitness, but fingers crossed. Nothing in performances so far to claim the Stones may run away with the league. But enough promise in the team to suggest that a play-off place aspiration is def realistic. Nothing nailed on or guaranteed but that's football.

Marc White just had a right rant about 3G pitches (5 minute mark onwards) saying how they aren't safe, cause injuries and should be banned at this level

That’s really odd to say “rip these pitches up” when you’ve made the choice to have them.
He seems a bit different. Has he been unwell?
