What a ridiculous comparison. please explain why ? Is playing the lottery not gambling ? This a specific fund raising exercise and nothing to do with real gambling. The prize is a thank you for taking part. It can’t be compared in any way with the kind of gambling the club objects to advertising.

Mind boggling the owners didn't budget for the club's major revenue stream or is there something else we're not being told... I suspect the half a season the club played with no supporters hit the finances quite hard

No disrespect daveu, but your 'suspicion' is blindingly obvious.

As a gambler I would have to agree with you, it us gambling . I am not aware of this action by the club to not advertise or encourage gambling, I must have missed it but to be honest I wouldn't have taken any notice anyway.

So why get so wound up ?
I dont regard myself as a gambler but I admit to buying the odd raffle ticket and occasionally a couple of quid on the lottery.
Too much ado about nothing.
Just feels like some malcontents always wanting to have a pop at Oliver Ash again.
Pathetic !

I suspect the half a season the club played with no supporters hit the finances quite hard the pitch is now 8years old , so discarding the covid interpruted season (which probably prolonged the life of the pitch for a season ) the club has had 7 seasons to fund the jewel in there crown of there business model , surely funds must have been set aside for there biggest capitial expense , instead leave it 9 months till a new pitch is needed and ask the fans to contribute to a new pitch

But not if the club lost anything up to £200k last season. Get a grip on reality ! Pretending that you are sone sort of clever dick business supremo who would have managed affairs so much better. If you were so savvy then buying the club out with your many £millions stashed away would be so easy. Or are you just one of those perpetual whingers with nothing positive to offer ?

The idea that fans must not help the club with the funding of a a new pitch ?
Wierd thinking.
Can only have come from a Gillingham supporter !

In 2006, I looked at some houses in Northampton and said their price was way too much and this had to end badly. In 2017, I fixed my mortgage for 10 years (and would have done longer if I could) stating that 'inflation would be a problem eventually'. I am not a housing expert with millions stashed away.
