Interesting game: looked very confident and poised and created chances in the first 15 minutes but Eastleigh got back into and took what was probably an undeserved lead - I can't help feeling it was a mistake by Barden.
Second half, started again, and scored a good goal, hit the post and then after a great move JBW just messed up. If we had gone into the lead then, it would have been interesting but then they scored a very good goal. Carved open for number three and that was that.
We're going down, so the question is how bad is it going to get from now till the end of the season?
I can't see many clubs falling over themselves to sign many players up for NL or above during the summer, other than Barham or Booty, and there is a core of players who could do well next season in the NLS, not least, of course, because most of them were there last season. That's different from last time when the side that went down was just a mish-mash of nothingness.

Barham never gives less than 100% and has both pace and skill. He and Booty may attract offers and both could prosper with the right players around them, though not sure the big clubs will be interested as they will look to the FL to boost their squads. They deserve a chance though and will probably be wondering what might have been this season had we invested properly.

If we had played all season like we did in the first 25 minutes then we would be a mid-table side by now. The players seem more comfortable playing 4-4-2. We needed to score during this period but didn't.
Their first goal was due to a misjudgement by Barden who immediately acknowledged his mistake. However if Lawson hadn't given away a silly free-kick for shirt pulling just outside the box then the chance would never have arisen. A stupid mistake by Lawson with only a minute to go to half-time in an otherwise excellent performance from him.
Another impressive display by Bone but Jobe is not a full-back; OK defensively but with the ball at his feet he didn't know what to do with it.
Barham never gave up but Alabi did nothing, might as well give Jeche some first-team experience from now on.
Deacon was shocking in the second half and should have been subbed asap. Wanjau-Smith was a revelation when he came on; fast, direct & tricky. Won the penalty and came close to scoring twice. Good job he's on a 2-year contract.
After the equaliser we should have gone on to win but we seemed to ease off. JBW had 2 good chances, one of which was easier to score than miss but somehow he managed to miss.
All we can do now is build for a promotion push from the NLS next season.

Worked hard, created chances, hit a post, missed a penalty, played good football at times, leaked at the back. All in all a decent performance. When things are going for you it would have been 3 points all day long. But at the wrong end of the table, no chance. We are where we belong, relegated in all but name. Just need to take one match at a time and enjoy the present.

All we can do now is build for a promotion push from the NLS next season. I think we've already started - 5 players on contracts gone in the last couple of months. Now isn't the time to speculate on who'll be with us next season, but you can imagine pretty dramatic changes to the playing squad. You wonder if it would be sensible for the club to earmark a new manager for next season now to start scouting players and figuring out who stays. Big George clearly isn't the man for us next season sadly.

Why are people expecting George to perform miracles with a squad that failed under Hakan and is being rebuilt for a lower level? There are no NL quality players who want to sign for a relegated team. I supported Hakan while he was manager and will support George as well. The grown ups whose money is at stake will make the decision at the end of the season.

I dont think anyone should criticise the owners they have always done the best for the club on the finances available, yes mistakes have been made but would we be saying any of this if we hadnt had the massive injuries this season ?.That said though, not giving us an update on the club situation / new manager clarification / next season ect ect is going to become an issue before long ,though we accept we relegated can we please have an update as to where we are going, as it feels rudderless at the moment. When your getting 1400 at a home game ! I would suggest it would help to keep the supporters informed, just saying like.

If not, then we need to have a manager agreed to take over from Day 1 of the post-season with a list of players he wants to keep and a list he wants to get. If we are scratching around in August for a manager and players, it will be a waste of sacking Hak so early. The natives will be restless. If the takeover is re-ignited, this will complicate things. If it isn't, I wouldn't be surprised if we have quite a conservative budget.

They deserve medals for where they have taken us-but they are not the people to take us further. However they have never been great at picking Managers and this season sadly they are now well past there sell by date and should have ensured a smooth handover to Manchett but somehow managed to screw it up. This needs fixing asap to secure the clubs future and for next years push at once again topping the NLS table with the right manager and the right squad to try again at NL in 2024-25.

Even if he just wants to stay southern based, there are plenty of teams who will look at his goal total (9 league goals so far) in this terrible team and give him a chance. Aldershot, Maidenhead, Dagenham, Wealdstone (Jack was part time at Dartford when we signed him), Boreham Wood, Dorking (if they stay up), Bromley and Eastleigh are all realistic options
