Proof if any were needed that we don't have adequate backup for Joe. Against Chesterfield we looked solid, first half yesterday we were ok, after Joe went off we weren't great at all. KLF just isn't up to the job. Just hope Joe's injury isn't too serious, we desperately need him in the back four.

He confirmed on Instagram earlier today it isn't fractured, just bruising and swelling thankfully. Suggests he should be fine for Tuesday, hopefully. If so, that's a relief, even if he rests until Saturday.

This board has turned into a manic-depressives' forum! One day we've turned the corner and things are looking up, the next it's all doom and gloom and relegation again. When in reality, nothing much has changed. We are (currently) one of the bottom 8 or 10 clubs, struggling to put some form together with our injuries and the difficulties of a new, harder division. We've been like that since day one, and the chances are we'll be ike it until at least the new year, and possibly all season. But a lot of other clubs are in the same position or worse - all we have to do is to make sure there are at least 4 of them underneath us by the end of April. We can do that. And we will. With Luque missing for the whole season, and with the NL like it is, this was never going to be an easy or fun season. It's turning out worse than we expected, OK, but worse that Yeovil, Aldershot, Scunthorpe, Torquay, Altrincham and Halifax? Even Oldham, D&R, Gateshead, Barnet? That's the reality of this season - we're going to get beat - a lot - but all we have to do is finish better than the bottom four in our mini-league of 10 or 12 clubs. We are more than capable of doing that. Survive until Christmas, then, with some returnees and a couple of new players, things will start to look up. Says sonebody who didnt see the second 45 minutes which was crap.. You can rationalise all you like, but things are worse than you think.

Just listened to Hak's interview.
He sounds well in tune with the downbeat posts on the forum.
JDL thinking is right up there with the mushrooms and fairies.

I've seen plenty of awful 45 minutes over the last 42 years, quite a few this season. But I have faith that we haven't become shite overnight and that Hak can sort it out. Ultimately, we only have to end up above 4 other teams - all looking worse than us (even taking into account those awful '45 minutes' this season). Anyway, what's football supporting if, despite everything, you don't live with hope? You might as well slit your wrists - or go and watch the Gills.

I understand that Barham was injured in training on Friday but where is Cawley? I was wondering that as well. Has to be a better option than Lyons-Foster who has so far proved to be one of the worst CBs I've seen in a Stones shirt.

Nothing against Lyons-Foster personally but I do find it odd we are loaning players from teams below us who do not think he is good enough for their team.. doesn't really make much sense.

Nothing against him indeed.
The club has done poorly in all aspects of recruitment.
Signings who would not have helped us in the NLS let alone the National League

No sign of proper, Stonestv, highlights then. Are we to assume the standard BW veto still applies?

We're also probably only 2 or 3 players light of being competitive again. When we lose Barham's high energy pressing up top and Ellul's confidence at the back, we look a different team. Would be great to have an update once in a while to share some news on injuries, seeing as we have so many. If any of Barham, Fawole, Ghandour or Wanjau-Smith aren't fit for Barnet, I think we may see a loan or two coming in today or tomorrow. We currently only have 2 senior forward players eligible for the 3 positions we play up top by my count. Asking academy players to step up is fine and all, but to jump straight into the National League is a tall order.

It's more than a tall order it smacks of desperation.
Trouble is with loans signings, most of them don't seem up to the job required.

Or just don't get the time to settle - a month here, then back or just a couple of chances off the bench. It's a form game, and if you can't get the momentum going it's hard to find that form. Seems our only option at this stage, but wouldn't surprised if the young lad is in the squad again if Barham's injured. Alabi is physical but he certainly doesn't have the energy to press defences, which serves us so well when it goes right.
