On the plus side, we’re away to Barnet on Tuesday, who just lost 5-0 at home to York City. They also conceded 5 in their previous game against Dagenham who themselves conceded 5 yesterday .Unbelievable Jeff!

I blame the goalkeeper.

With Hadler conceding in average 2.5 goals a game and Mersin conceding 2.22 on average, it has finally put to bed the argument about who is the best goalie

Not to mention points per game this season.
But I’m charitable enough to support giving Tom a fair run to prove his mettle.
We have two great keepers and it makes sense to alternate.

First half we were ok, second half pathetic. We give up whenever something goes against us. Gutless and with no fight. Our away form is getting desperate. Squad looking ever thinner of quality players. Hak not able to put out 11 players of a decent National League standard.

Barnet, Halifax, Southend and Yeovil, plus a trip to Notts County and an FA cup tie. Looks a pretty busy October and like as not, one without Joe Ellul, who could have a fractured cheekbone. Somehow, the team need to start winning and at least three of these games are against sides who are struggling like us. Seems we are going to have to get used to losing to the top sides - though Maidenhead proved it can be done by winning at Chesterfield yesterday - but we must start beating the teams around us or we will be in deep do-do by the end of October.

It could all be over by the end of October at this rate.

Its beginning to feel that we eventually get outplayed in most matches with the game wrapped up for the opposition by 70 minutes.
Wonder if we would do better in a league that only played 45 minutes ?

I was out all yesterday, so only just catching up. What happened to Ellul?

I was out all yesterday, so only jus catching up. What happened to Ellul? He went down in a collision with a BW player and took an unlucky kick to the face from Galvin. Complete accident. Played on but looked to effectively sub himself off, complaining his vision was compromised. Ended up at hospital before the game had finished.

This board has turned into a manic-depressives' forum! One day we've turned the corner and things are looking up, the next it's all doom and gloom and relegation again. When in reality, nothing much has changed. We are (currently) one of the bottom 8 or 10 clubs, struggling to put some form together with our injuries and the difficulties of a new, harder division. We've been like that since day one, and the chances are we'll be ike it until at least the new year, and possibly all season.
But a lot of other clubs are in the same position or worse - all we have to do is to make sure there are at least 4 of them underneath us by the end of April. We can do that. And we will.
With Luque missing for the whole season, and with the NL like it is, this was never going to be an easy or fun season. It's turning out worse than we expected, OK, but worse that Yeovil, Aldershot, Scunthorpe, Torquay, Altrincham and Halifax? Even Oldham, D&R, Gateshead, Barnet? That's the reality of this season - we're going to get beat - a lot - but all we have to do is finish better than the bottom four in our mini-league of 10 or 12 clubs.
We are more than capable of doing that. Survive until Christmas, then, with some returnees and a couple of new players, things will start to look up.

Only two players different to our narrow defeat against Chesterfield where we were spirited, hard working, competitive, etc so where did it all go wrong? We were absolutely shocking.
Pattison is the most frustrating player I've seen. I said his finishing was bad over the summer, and I'm doubling down - to not even hit the target with the chance he had with time and space is unreal.
In Hak's defence, once he picks a starting 11, there's very little on the bench at the moment to change things up - we had no senior replacement wingers or strikers on the bench and everyone else, bar possibly Odusanya, isn't fighting for a place in the starting 11.
With 7 out yesterday, Deacon suspended and Ellul possibly out, what on earth is our line up going to look like Tuesday?? I can only imagine Hak is on the phone today trying to sort some emergency loans, surely?

I understand that Barham was injured in training on Friday but where is Cawley?
