Spain ? That's one I havnt heard. Rumours are just that but no smoke without fire and all that. Sounds to me that jdl is not going to be much of a source of information. One thing for sure, something is afoot, but don't think there is anything for us supporters to get bothered about. Still 2 more top matches to enjoy, a league title to be presented and something of a celebration. Afterwards, plenty of time to speculate about the future, which is looking rosy.

If you're looking to me for information, you're going to be sadly disappointed! Stats and cold, hard analysis (aka opinions) is what I do. As well as manic optimism...

Swordy has much to answer for ! I was sitting with him in the pub before Hemel when this first came to light, although I had no idea we were sitting with one of the protagonists.

I am wondering how much the cost of season tickets and actual entrance fee will increase by?
Six years ago the prices increased, but never went down again when we got relegated..

I'd like to see Dorking go up. They've been brilliant this season, and their officials have been very courteous towards us, and gracious in losing out on the title as well.
Perhaps a bit early to start worrying about the team, but it will be interesting to see who Hak lets go. None of our players have been poor this season, but we will need quality to survive in the National. I remember when we went up before and Jay gave a chance to most of the players who got us there - some quickly showed they weren't good enough. Will Hak give this squad a chance, or shuffle the pack?
Anyway that's for a couple of months time. For now it's about enjoying the moment.

Anyway that's for a couple of months time. For now it's about enjoying the moment. Jay is a nice guy and it was good of him to stick with the players that got us up (and it almost worked). But Hak is a pro - he will pick the players he thinks can do the job. This is such a good squad, with excellent team spirit, so I think most of the regulars will still be here, but there's bound to be one or two fans' favourites who Hak decides aren't quite what he wants - and maybe one or two who get poached too (although I hope not the latter).

I think we're paying under the odds at the moment, due to COVID. So I expect the prices next season will be more realistic. But, if you want to be in the top league, you have to expect to pay for it.

The money we pay does not get trousered by the directors, it goes into the running of the club. It could go up 10% next season and I wont grumble. Hoping the club is able to secure some more investment that could make a big difference.

Expect a rise in season ticket holders. Seem to recall last time we were in the National League the main stand was pretty much sold out. How do current attendances compare to the last promotion season?

I’ve been wondering about how to survive and prosper in the National League this time around. Bromley and Sutton are two similar sized clubs who used to live with us at a lower level and could be role models. What did they do differently? Last time we clung to a part time structure too long and switched too late. Is it about behind the scenes infrastructure and fitness training that costs money? This time there are even more big ex league teams than ever, including some major subsidising of wages. Our ground capacity was only 3000, but may still need future consideration. Nobody imagines we are going to take this league by storm, but it would be nice not to be perennial strugglers. It’s also time for the local business community to step forward. Rumours reaching swordy towers that the club are in talks with 6 investors with the view to investing around £500,000 each. I have no detais so don't ask but the info received was from one of the 6 parties involved. I will not at this time divulge his name. Give us a clue ? Do they live up the Sutton or Loose Road ?

Average attendance since 13/14 (can't find 12/13's figures): 13/14 (IP) 1,820 14/15 (IP) 1,846 15/16 (NS) 2,222 16/17 (NL) 2,385 17/18 (NL) 2,412 18/19 (NL) 2,178 19/20 (Covid) 20/21 (Covid) 21/22 (NS) 2,455 (assuming sell-out for final game) Gates for our first season in the NS were 20% up on our IP seasons - but only increased by 7% in our first NL season. Gates were much the same for our second season in the NL, but for the 3rd season they dropped by 10% (ending up 2% lower than our NS season). This season, gates are up 13% on our last full season (3rd NL), 10% up on our previous NS season, and even up 3% on our best season (1st NL). So, overall, attendance has been as high as it's felt - not only 10% better than the last time we were in the NS, but even better than our best season in the NL (where we had the benefit of big away attendances).Notes on averages: 1) They are buggers, and often disappointing. You get a couple of really good attendances - like last Saturday and this Saturday - and you think this will really boost the average - but it doesn't. Our average before last Saturday was 2,284, so those two massive gates have 'only' added 171 to the average. 2) In the same way that big gates at the end of the season can have less effect than you'd expect, lower gates early on in the season can have a much bigger effect. For instance, our average for the first 4 games was a respectable 2,034 (even though the first two gates were under 2,000 - not much better than our IP averages). But then came the slump, when gates fell to an average of only 1,884 over three games (again, not much better than our IP averages). From then on, gates were better (although they still fluctuated a lot), and the average for the rest of the season was 2,716. In other words, our early gates and our early season slump effectively reduced our season's average by over 550!

From memory, our capacity was just over 3000 before the Elvis Stand was built. So the ground felt more full every game.
