That feels like a very satisfying win, for all sorts of reasons. First it was Concord, who by most accounts are just as awkward in their own way as Ebbsfleet. Second, as Sword (and indeed Stoneslive) says, we went back to Plan A and it worked with a vengeance. Can see why Hak took a chance on Bettemer, with Barham injured, trying the big man up front against a side like Concord could seem a good idea. However, also one that needs to be binned. Late sub, maybe, if our well honed pace, pass and move gets nowhere, but not at the start. Other pluses are the goals for Pattisson (his first for ages) and Ellul, who stops so many and deserves a few at the other end. Great for Deacon too - really clever player who works so hard for the team. Overall though, shows what many of us have been thinking for a while now - do we really need an out and out striker when we have goal scorers all over the pitch? Suspect Hak will be even more chuffed than Tuesday night - and quite right too.

Am sure it will not have gone unnoticed that Gillingham lost 7-2 at home to Oxford today. Another reason to enjoy the good times.

We have all seen it before with Stones, pick up a big, pretty immobile striker and the whole style of attacking play changes for the worse. This def looks like a loan deal we can do without. It's just not that Bettemer looks slow and unfit, his presence affected the rest of the team with long balls and lack of movement/passing. For the first hour Stones were no better than Concord, then the substitution happened and it all changed. Good individual performances followed all over the pitch with the lads back to their best. A stunning win in the end.

There is absolutely no doubt about the turning point of the game,68 minutes and we removed the lumbering walrus Bettamer and added some pace,we played the ball to feet and blew them away.0/10 for the idiot that picked him and 11/10 for the man who realised what a colossal mistake it was. Pathetic for 68 minutes, sublime for 22. Spent the last 5 minutes of the game trying to stop one of our supporters who was shitfaced from being arrested and I succeeded despite the sainterference of some of our other pissed up supporters. Lads, go away and support someone else, you were embarrassing🤬🤬🤬🤬 [br

Pattison filled in very well for Jack Barham, who hopefully will be back before too long. Sweet for Deacon today, Booty played well as usual, Luque decent and of course there's Mr Reliable (Ellul). But overall Plan A was much too good for Concord. Hope that Hak doesn't experiment again with the long ball game to a big striker.

I had to post something just to get to a nice round figure.

Just been listening to Hak's post match interview. Not at all happy with the first 45 minutes, he felt like Concord worked harder and wanted it more. Second half totally different with players responding to the 'team talk'. Maybe that was it and had nothing much to do with CP coming on. Yes Pattison played well but so did everybody else. From the sidelines it seemed that the team suddenly had more legs, more movement, more passing, more cohesion, more goals. Happy days. Hak promises that the players will always work their boll***s off for the supporters, or words to that effect.

Good sign that Hak got the right reaction from the team at HT…they would have also known the first half was not how we have been getting results.
It will happen throughout the season and it’s hard to play to 100%week after week. Rotation will be important

Rotation will be important But for 23 minutes of the second half we were as bad as the first half so the whole reaction to h/t bollocking is nonsense, on a windy day we were lumping the ball to a great big lummox and we were clueless, the person who should have been moaned at at half time was Hak himself for chosing the aerial route to a centre forward who was as mobile as me.Anyway we got it right in the end and that is all that matters.

Bit harsh to single out one player. We have a manager who can see when things aren’t working and change the system and players.

By my reckoning, he misses Bath, Eastbourne and Oxford, but can be back for Dorking, unless we can count a Kent Senior game. Didn’t we collude with Tonbridge a few years ago to bring forward a KSC tie so as to clear a player’s suspension before a big match?

Didn’t we collude with Tonbridge a few years ago to bring forward a KSC tie so as to clear a player’s suspension before a big match? I believe it was Jack Parkinson. We put out a weakened side in return for them agreeing to move the game forward. They stuffed us but then got thrown out for playing an ineligible player.
