Dear old Richard Monks, a legend in his own lunchtime. A Maidstone Utd legendary hard man who all but caked his pants when I squared up to him demanding an apology for insulting our supporters. His reply was pathetic " I didn't mean you mate ". PBB wandered over to intervene ,holding his pint and cigar he bellowed " shut up Monksy you f**king tart", happy days😁

Look it up?? Hmmm
I too was wondering if we'd have won that game with fans. But I concluded, probably not. Leaving aside the fact that there is no evidence at all that fans have helped us win tight games any more than they have had exactly the opposite effect, there is certainly no guarantee that fans would have been "baying for a winner". They would more likely have been baying for several players' heads.
But, bottom line, the 'best team we have seen at JWW in years' was incapapable of beating one of the worst teams seen at JWW in years, and probably would have been if we'd played all night. Why that is when we have such a talented squad and only a few days ago I was praising Hak for getting them to play as a team, is anyone's guess.
But, whatever the problem is, it needs sorting out. This really IS the best squad we've had in years and it's our best chance of gettng out of the Southern Premier and back where we belong - we might have to wait years for another chance like this. Don't fúck it up, Stones.

Hurts a bit to agree with JDL but he may be half right in this occasion. This is the best team and the best squad we've had in years, so yes it hurts when we drop points when we should have won easiky enough. But when did we last feel like that ? Seems a long time ago, if at all. Fair play to Hak, he has conjured this team out of a space when expectations and the players wage bill was cut drastically. The quality of football is as good as any I remember since the club came home. Lots to do but hopes are now much stronger than last season.

Does seem a bit strange to hear so much from the doubters when the team is playing well. It seems that some people are only satisfied if we win every match 5-0.

I think Hak is doing ok So do the mates I meet up with. I'm guessing there are quite a few Main Stand dwellers on the forum.

JDL is right about one thing, we do have a very decent chance of getting to the play-offs. In fact, not doing that well would be mega disappointing

Tbf I reckon anything below top 3 would be disappointing. Top 7 is almost a given, well almost.

Our beloved team will never play well enough for some supporters.
Its only via streaming, but from where I sit Stones seem to be playing better football than I've seen for a long time.
But miss some chances and drop a point or two and you would think it was the 'End of the World'.
Happy that Hak has put a very decent squad together with some quality football being played too.
I can moan as good as the rest of them but why do it now when things could be so, so much worse ?

For some of our newer supporters losing is the end of the world it's only old dinosaurs like me who have seen us lose so many games over the years that don't get to affected by defeat. I only lose it when the performance is really bad or if they just don't try and thankfully they are reasonably few and far between.

But remember expectations just before the season started - what did people think, mid-table? A bit like the current Premier League table , there's no one outstanding team.

Considering what the world is going through at the moment, I'm just pleased the club is surviving.
