Who would trust the NL with grant money again?

Very worrying. I can't see crowds being allowed back before the end of the season, so the financial situation isn't going to ease.
O&T have a very tough decision to make - keep funding this squad because it's good enough for us to do something this season, or accept the inevitable and cut their losses. As fans, they'll want to do the former, but as businessmen, who are probably having a hard time outside of football anyway, they might just need to do the other.
Their business plan has always been: pay for the stadium, but from then on the club must be self-sustainable - no going down the suicidal route of funding a team we can't afford. But now that's exactly what they've had to do.
Personally, I'm so pleased with the squad Hak's put together, that I just want to see the season out to see what they can do. We might not get this chance again for years. But, I'm not paying for it! If T&O decide to cut their losses in the long-term interests of the club, then that's what we have to accept.
Although, if enough NS clubs are in the shite, we may not get the choice. I can't see the NL abandoning the NL itself, but I don't think they'll give a shit about the NN and NS.

Better enjoy Braintree tomorrow then. It could be our last game this season...

Concord Rangers owner is calling for a boycott Bit rich considering his club were one the one's that benefited from the original grant hand out! Didn't see him speaking out at the time. Was quite happy to accept the money. Even went as far as refunding all season tickets.

Apparently it will cost the Government more, 14 Million to furlough the National league than the 11 Million it is offering in loan's. I just hope we get Joan Luque and Zihni Temelci on contact before the weekend.

Concord Rangers owner is calling for a boycott I'd be slightly more impressed if he could spell 'their'.

Seems like owners are suggesting a kind of strike action. Trouble is, it won't achieve anything unless clubs higher up the pyramid join in. Maybe a mid season break, with staff furloughed might help, with an extension into June? There might then be a chance of gate money from April onwards?

Maybe a mid season break, with staff furloughed might help, with an extension into June? There might then be a chance of gate money from April onwards? Clutching at straws 6'y old boy . A 2 month break with a one month extension would see us need to play 28+ games in 13 weeks and Hak is already moaning. If fans are allowed back in April it'll probably be at a reduced capacity so we will doubtless still be losing money. I want to see us play as much as you or anyone else does but not if it puts the club at financial risk. To carry on without funding is a huge gamble that I personally would not risk the clubs future . Terry and Oliver may have different views but I honestly think the scrapping of the season has now become inevitable. Steps 3-6 are currently voting to do the same and I can only see the vote going one way.

The problem of extending the season is many players contracts will have expired before the season is over and will/could become unavailable at the crunch end. Also how do you furlong an employee who maybe only part tiime and have full time employment

Interesting discussion - my views change depending on which post I've just read!
I am torn between the pragmatic - abandon the season before we lose even more money - and my desire to see football, and for the club to do well.
Ultimately, the survival of the club must come first, obviously. But I haven't been this impressed with a squad and manager for years, and if Covid gives us the chance to take advantage of the confusion to do well in the league (or even the Trophy!), I want to see that so much.
But all I've done there is restate the problem!
I guess, in the end, it's out of our hands anyway. As well as the uncertainties of Covid, we are in the hands of a NL board that has already proven its depths of incompetence and corruption.
I'd love to see this squad show us what they can do over a complete season, but if O&T decide to withdraw, they have my full support - with or without the agreement of the NL.

"How much support would ending the season have? There is plenty of support for ending the season from the National League South and North clubs.
These are clubs who received much less money from the autumn grants, regardless of how well supported they are, and now simply cannot afford to keep on playing.
12 National League North clubs wrote to culture secretary Oliver Dowden asking for grants, rather than loans.
One well-placed source said that he expects “three quarters” of that league to support cancelling the league, with similar positions expected in National League South.
“The vast majority of clubs won’t continue as it is unless grants are provided,” said one source. “We certainly won’t be getting into hundreds of thousands of pounds of debt to finish the season.”theathletic.com/news/national-league-cancelled-curtailed-football/cX1YdVJt55wM

Looking at approximate figures we have already lost around £90-100,000 ,we would need a minimum of £250,000 to finish the season so that would mean starting next season with debts of around £350,000. We have had no income from food or drinks and no income from hiring the pitch which will also need replacing soon at even more expense. Unless the owners are ready to take the debts on a personal level then we could spend the next 5 years minimum with an average budget because of repayments of debts. An average budget does not necessarily mean a lack of success but it'll take a lot of luck and extremely good management to achieve. Will our fans accept this and be patient?well I think you know the answer to that and so income will suffer again. Ending the season now ,in my opinion,is the correct thing to do not only for ourselves but for 75% of the rest of the league. And so we wait until Wednesday and pray for a miracle solution at this emergency meeting.
