Some chap on the Chelmsford Board fancies The Dragoon / Royal Albion for a pre match drink, good luck with that fella I won't tell him, if you don't. If only there was a handy guide...

Interesting bit of pre match entertainment from Chelmsford. Attack v defence game going on at 2.45. In this heat, will it knacker them? Hope so.

We’ve played well by and large, however an awful goal kick from Cole has provided the catalyst for an undeserved equaliser

Didn't look good from the Town End. More worrying is Elokobi off. He and Johnson already such a good partnership, with George there to cover Ryan's occasional slip. Cole now captain, so could well be the first proper challenge for our defence as Chelmsford are certainly no mugs.

Akanbi has to start over Edwards. Offers a lot more to us than Edwards and finally got his goal.
Massive confidence boost going into three tough games

Our full backs are very solid. We had much more in the tank that them today. Very good win. When you can’t easily pick a MOTM, it’s a good sign. Wish very good today. Corne also.

I was thinking Wishart and Corne as MOtM, but apart from McClure, who did very little today, everyone put a real shift in and considering the heat, deserve every credit. Good to see Johnson taking over as the voice of the defense, while Wishart looked a league above at times. Could have, should have been 2-0 at half time and the game was going flat in the heat until Amaluzor scored seemingly out of nowhere and Chelmsford promptly fell apart. When was the last time we scored four at home in the league? Hak actually really happy! Maybe Chelmsford flattered a bit early on, because they never looked like scoring, for all their possession (apart from the freebie we gave them), so credit both our defense and midfield for neutralising any threat. Carry on like this and we will start turning up in expectation, rather than hope. COYS!

Edwards and McClure both looked a bit off the pace today. 2 games in 48 hours maybe a bit too much for players who haven't had a lot of playing time. Hard to pick a MoM today, Wishart, Amalosa, and Corne all in with a shout, but for me, Ryan Johnson, if nothing else, for that sublime tackle in the first half. First half was pretty even, we started really well, got the early goal but they got stronger as the half wore on and fortuitous though it was, their equaliser wasn't really a surprise. Second half they started strong and were well on top without really creating a lot, then our second goal came at a really good time and killed them of. Two more goals put a gloss on the scoreline, and maybe we should have a couple more, one certainly that look easier to score than miss. Overall a very satisfying performance, but I think there's more to come from this team. And what a way to lay the jinx.

Rare home win anyone? 2000+ crowd. Lots of unsightly legs on display. Two out of three ain't bad. So pleased for the kids in the Elvis End.

Thought Corne had his best game so far - put himself about really well and good energy. Khan also had his best yet (didn't see Concord). Wishart looks a class above when he wants to and took both his goals really well - nice to see him finally score in front of goal (!) and his second was a sweet strike from outside the box. Edwards is decent but looked tiered and McClure also looked like last Saturday was showing on him. Justin shows real glimpses of different class for this league (as do Edwards and McClure often) and for all that Johnson was my motm - that challenge in the box first half (at 0-0) was high quality and he wins most / all his headers. Losing George could be a problem as Knight looked edgy and nervous but then he hasn't played much.
Chelmsford looked decent so it was a good test - their CF (no 20) was a handful but they ran out of steam and energy after we scored the second (against the run of play).

Massive confidence boost going into three tough games You might be right but Edwards, just coming back from injury, worked hard and played well in the heat Saturday and having done so I was surprised he started today, thought he might have earned a rest. I've had doubts but I'm not writing him off yet.

Best performance in the league for a couple of years. Passed really well, great tackling, won most headers and tested the keeper on many occasions. Really enjoyed today and now time to make the Gallagher a fortress. Tough game on Saturday and will be a test to see if we will be challenging for promotion or the play offs this season.
