2-0 2,000+ gate. Top half of the table. Mad talk on the forum of play-off places, FB goes into meltdown. Lots of happy Stones. Sword gets pissed, Frenchstone takes wrong turning on way to ground and gets lost. nws watches Herne Bay. Me? I won't even know the result until we land at Budapest - IF we land at Budapest... Thanks for the mention , I didn't take the wrong turn , I went to Pevensey Bay and had a lovely day on the beach listening to the game ... Wished that I had been at the Gallagher to sample the atmosphere of a rare home win. ... I've been to nice and polite so far ! ... Hope that your plane landed in Siberia and that the comrades over there have arrested you at the airport and that you are doing hard labour in the salt mines !! ... I feel better now !🤣🤣🤣🤣🖤🧡⚽️

Quite a few of us knew (obviously) that it was going to take quite a few matches for the team to gell together. Work in progress it maybe, but there are plenty of positives, with the defence looking very sound (hope George will be ok), midfield improving every game and the forwards actually looking as though they want to score goals. A couple of our new signings still look pretty lightweight, but hey if it's only a couple then JS2 has done really well with his recruitment. Warming to Hakan too. All in all the season is beginning to look very encouraging.

Rod Stringer's post match interview was an interesting listen. Publicly slagging off his players, especially the keeper. Very poor management, why would you want to put the effort in for a c*** like that.

Well, I got the score and the crowd wrong, but the play-off talk has already started, there were certainly lots of happy Stones. Anyone know how I did on the Sword, Frenchstone and nws front? I thought nws had betrayed us, one of the Chelmsford coaching staff looked a lot like him. Lucky lad. I was at my third game of the season. Very enjoyable. I thought Johnson was immense at the back today, particularly as Elokobi went off. Wishart had an absolutely blinding game too. I hope he stays. Corne ran his socks off and that partnership with Khan seems to be building all the time. In fact you can see the partnerships building all over the pitch. Chesmain and Wishart, Corne and Khan, Elokobi and Johnson... Again this was a fantastic team effort and the subs all played well when they came on. I thought Knight looked nervy at first but seemed to grow into things, Akbani looked strong and led the line well (nice to see him score), Kyei seemed to pop up everywhere when he came on. Entertaining football, victory, smiling people...I could get used to this...

Here's a nice co incidence, 31 August 2015 Home to Chelmsford, August Bank Holiday Monday, NLS - so same league, same day, same opponents, 13th in the League before that ( so average / crap start ) crowd that day 2,117. Yesterday, same set up, crowd 1,914 ( including a very reasonable number of visitors from Chelmsford ). Conclusions from that ? Come on down people of Maidstone, lets find the missing 200 odd + fans, this team is well worth watching.

I think the weather may have affected the crowd size yesterday as many families will have gone to the coast etc and the heat may have deterred some. I sit in the front row of the Main Stand but I could only cope with it until half-time & then I went to stand on the river side of the ground. Did the trick though as we scored 3 goals in the second half. Really enjoyed standing & chatting to different people, next season I may just get a Ground Season Ticket.

The main stand was barely a quarter full second half. A common feature towards the end of last season, but yesterday, purely down to the sun and heat. By the by, anyone found out when we last won by three clear goals, at home, in the league?

I'm never there in August, but I went to a couple of pre-seasons last year where the weather was similar, and that stand is lethal in the heat/sun. Luckily, it was pretty empty, so we were able to move up a row each time the sun got lower, but eventually there was nowhere to move to and we had to give up.
I know it sounds pathetic - can't sit in the sun for 90 minutes in England, but there's something about that stand that seems to amplify the heat.
Having the sun right in your eyes for most of the game, even in the winter, isn't much fun either- can't wait for the Riverside to be built!
When JWW was built, I thought the 'natural' slope was a godsend - an ideal layout, but it not only means the main stand is a sun trap, but also that there's no room under it for the usual facilities. And, of course, it dictates the width of the pitch.
Still preferable to Sittingbourne or Ashford though - or something souless like The Hive or Stadium MKD miles out of town.

PS - jumping up and down, I accidentally broke the Panic button. I wonder if Old Boy has a spare... No I don’t I posted it first class to Mr G Tamplin in Essex! John is honest enough to say our squad is light - my point all summer but now we know why - but this team he has put together is really playing its socks off and gelling brilliantly. When someone like Ryan Johnson can come from East Grinstead to looking like he should be in NL and Sam Corne rise from Ashford to a star at this level and Wish playing like he never played in NL you know something special is happening! I could go on with the list as Monday was a class team performance. I hope we don’t come down with a thump next outing but on this showing playoffs are a reality not a hope. COYS!

If the 2015 season began on 1st August we won 4-0 v Hendon, but otherwise cannot find a home league game we won by three clear goals in the last four years. The Hendon match was for the Isthmian Charity Shield. In other words, a friendly.
