I imagine at the Board meeting this evening that Directors will be scratching heads and deciding whether Simon and Tristan have made sufficient positive impact after their 3 matches in charge, to merit giving them the reins for the rest of the season.
There are no safe bets, we may already have seen the best of the dynamic duo, but on the other hand there may be plenty more positives to come.
Is there a really good experienced National League level manager out there just at the moment, who is available to join us at a moments notice and waiting at the end of a phone line for a call from Bill ?
It seems to me that Tristan and Simon have done more than ok and shown enough promise in their short time of managing the team to merit a contract till the end of the season.
Hoping that Oliver and Terry see it the same way !

Hoping that Oliver and Terry see it the same way ! Chris Kinnear would be the only viable alternative at the minute and rumour has it he'd be willing to give it a go. You can be sure Bill will have his number if that call is merited. Personally I'd stick with what we have until the end of the season, but I'd be keeping in touch with CK in case we need him in the summer. We need stability now and to make a change after the start Walton and Lewis have made, would be crazy.

It is a difficult one for the Board. T&S have done themselves no harm thus far, bit two wins out of three is not yet conclusive. For me, the best option would be to keep them until the end of the season, but also employ someone as a part time consultant to advise. Kinnear or John Still would fit the bill perhaps. T&S are short of experience at this level of leadership, so just as they are providing nurture to the players, they would benefit from some mentoring of their own. In other words, give them full responsibility for running the team, but have the backup, a couple of days a week for when the inevitable happens with a, hopefully short, run of games without a win. Not as cheap as leaving them to get on with it by themselves, but avoids the inevitable shock of appointing yet another new manager, who let's face it, cannot offer saving us from relegation anymore that T&S can. Bill may be able to do the same thing and maybe he is already, but someone current experience for me would be better.

Simon Walton with Tristan as No2. A director of football with League2 experience was arguably what Jay needed so if SW is the new Jay let’s give him what we didn’t do right before. If money is an issue Bill should be openly hands on as DOF (If he isn’t already?) but if he’s in the background now and we can afford it Kinnear or Still or a very senior DOF could help Simon and Tristan- especially in the market for players, although we need to stick as close to the current squad as we can to stay up.

I concur with a director of football coming in who will have that tactical knowledge T&S maybe won’t have week after week.
Both appear to be excellent people persons and will get that motivation going, but neither have the experience of a real dog fight from the perspective of the dug out.

Just imagine if we’d got Peter Taylor as Jays DOF! Never mind can’t look back now - SW is the new Jay - same age as when JS was appointed, equally ready to hang up his boots, and with lots of experience in the league we are in and above as a player. Sound familiar?

The duo have been given until the end of January. An extension.
Let’s get behind them.

End of season would have been better for focussing on our prospects of avoiding the drop.............if we lose against Maidenhead (League) Daggers and Orient, will a new man coming in at that stage be able to save us? Thankfully I don't think we will lose all three games, but that's all down to Simon and Tristan. Tough cookies, the owners! Yes, lets get behind Simon and Tristan and the team until we go through all this speculation yet again at the end of January!

Kind of makes sense. Make them work for it and prove the last six points weren't beginner's luck. I would have given them to the end of the season. Now they just need backing with a couple of quality loan signings.

Surely this decision puts to bed this nonsense that some fans perpetuate about the owners being happy to get relegated? If this was the case they wouldn’t be reevaluating at end of Jan?

Good point! Who in their right mind WANTS to be relegated anyway? Would they accept a demotion at work then? I doubt it! I have faith that SWnand TL will pass the next test if they are up for it.

Another small positive in all this is that the Club let everyone know straight away. They have not always been so quick to inform, so that's a well done. Things could look, if not exactly BE, different after the Maidenhead game, for a win will take us out of the relegation zone, albeit only on goal difference. If we can get something from both the Dagenham and Orient games, then you'd hope T&S would be given to the end of the season. Would still like to see someone experienced brought in as well though. As we saw last weekend, this is the time when other sides at the bottom can start picking up points too, though this can then drag others down instead. Calm heads needed for stormy waters. Buttocks will need to be clenched and sphincters tightened right to the end of the season, methinks.
