Would someone who's been assistant manager at Leicester, Hull and Stevenage be worth approaching?

Wouldn't that be Steve Butler?

Fair dos, he currently works for a training academy which is a safe job compared to this management lark. So he probably wouldn't be interested. I'm all for keeping T&S until at least the end of the season. The next two games are massive - a chance to break the home hoodoo, get out of the relegation places and equal our best Trophy run since the 1980s. Hartlepool was so impressive - can we play without Cassidy? Yes we can...

End of season would have been better for focussing on our prospects of avoiding the drop.............if we lose against Maidenhead (League) Daggers and Orient, will a new man coming in at that stage be able to save us? Thankfully I don't think we will lose all three games, but that's all down to Simon and Tristan. Tough cookies, the owners! Yes, lets get behind Simon and Tristan and the team until we go through all this speculation yet again at the end of January! I agree. Giving them a mere extension of a few weeks means the uncertainty for the players remains and that could affect their performances. While I understand the nervousness of the board, I think it would have been worth the chance of telling them they have the job until the season's end so they can make a longer-term plan to keep us up.

I think the owners are looking to keep their options open so they can react to results. If the dynamic duo can pick up 2 league wins and a draw between now and the end of the month, I guess the job is theirs for taking. An outcome that would surely suit everybody. But no wins over the same period and the owners will probably want to give the supporters 'some hope' by a final throw of the dice. Let's hope it doesn't come to it.

Although I initially thought the best thing to do would gain some stability and name them until the end of the season, maybe this will add a little more motivation all round to get the best possible results from the next 3 games? TL and SW look like they want to stay and it seems the players wants them to stay, best way to ensure that is to get some good results from the remaining games in January, lets hope that gives them all the motivation they need.
Equally, even if we can only pick up 3 points I would still be surprised if a new manager was brought in, maybe 0 points from the 3 games but I highly doubt the cost of bringing in someone else with the 'experience needed' is appealing to the owners right now

Steve Butler as Director of Football to Simon and Tristan huh? Has a real nostalgia feel to it but would it work and could we afford him? I doubt the second and not sure about the first. Didn’t he manage us once not very well? Bets are off until the end of the month anyway!

He was assistant manager to Ford, billed at the time as the 'dream team' Turned into a nightmare!

We are only 2 listless displays away from "we should have appointed a manager with NL experience" and "we have gone for the cheap option again" from the usual suspects. I agree that these 2 seem to be a breath of fresh air though and long may this mini (very mini) revival continue. I would, however, like to see SW lining up this Saturday as I would like to see how he would play the DCM role.
