The point that I was trying to raise when starting this thread was why is our home form so different from our away form, yes I know that we win some lose some, but our performances at home are nowhere near as good as the away ones. And by the way I do not want another promotion just yet, too many big jumps too soon will backfire sooner or later. I raised a point the other day (can't remember what topic) and was immediately shot down in flames, but I still think it's worth considering. People keep looking for reasons, everything from the way the opposition set up, to the Main Stand. Has anyone actually asked the players how they feel about playing on 3G. We all keep saying what a wonderful surface it is, and we can all see the advantages to the club and the community. But at the end of the day, is it really the same to play on as grass. It may not be any different from an injury perspective, but what about recovery times? What about the feel of it when you are actually running about and trying to play football on it? Do the players actually like playing on it? I'm not saying any of this is fact, but isn't it just as likely that the pitch affects the way we play as the setup of the opposition or the atmosphere or lack of it from the crowd? I'm not being anti-3G, but sometimes we are as blinkered to any criticism of it as the anti-3G lobby are to any praise. Unless I am being 'whooshed' here..... Dave, please forget about 'asking the players' as you may be missing the point that 3G is part of the business model that supports the club. Oliver mentioned in his blog the £500k revenue p.a. which will sustain the club in lieu of some crazy moneybags benefactor they may all end in tears.

That figure caught my eye. £10,000 a week? He said that included savings, presumably from not having to pay for training pitches etc. But £10,000 a week sounds very very good.

I wasn't questioning the 3G model, but positing a possible explanation of our home form.

1.4 points per game isn't relegation form... Can't you and jdl just get a room? We got married in Vegas a couple of years ago. Didn't you know?

All this talk of points per game... anybody remember when we got more points than anybody else but still finished second? Lost the league on a points per game basis by 0.03 of a point (Cray played 29 and got 62 points, we played 30 and got 63).

Terry spoke about this on Stones Live a week or three ago. If I remember correctly, we have at least one contract for use of the pitch which is worth £50k a year, and not having to rent a training facility saves us £1,000 a week, so that's £2k a week before you add anything else in. Can't quite believe all the rest is worth £8k a week, but even if it's 'only' 7 or 8k it still pays for Terry's Range Rover bill, with a few quid left over.

Lost the league on a points per game basis by 0.03 of a point (Cray played 29 and got 62 points, we played 30 and got 63). All due to Faversham folding with about 4 games left. The league decided it was too late to expunge their record which would have favoured us as we had dropped more points against them than the other teams around us.

At least the MK Dons scout won't have gotten too much useful info about the team ;-)

But then we did somehow get promotion from the KCL to the KL despite finishing 3rd!! If my memory serves me correctly ?!
