Disappointing but Bromley worked hard and knew what they were doing - as mentioned above, crowd out ZH and JP, and with SL and JR both, I thought, having an off-night there wasn't a lot of threat. ZH going off didn't surprise me as he looked like a second yellow wasn't far behind the first. Not sure why anyone has a go at JP - he works hard off the ball, is intelligent in his use of it most of the time but there's very little he can do when he doesn't receive any service. First half was a non-event, a bit of luck with their goal but no real threat. A little better in the second and actually thought it seemed to work better with Wraight as at least we got the ball wide and were trying to get it in; on the left, far too slow in moving the ball to JR and then kept coming inside all the time. Agree with this, thought it was Wraight's best performance for us ( maybe not saying much thou ? ).

The thing that most struck me last night was how fit and fast Bromley were. In the first half they looked like the home side - charging forward in numbers, determined to get that vital first goal. We defended well, but had no real answer.
Half way through the first half I said to my daughter, they can't keep this up much more than 20 minutes, then they'll ease off. After the first goal, I said, now they've got the goal they'll ease up. But they just kept running and pushing us back. Even in the second half they didn't ease up until half way through, when we finally started to dominate the game (before they scored again!).
I thought, with day time training and our new coaching set up, we were supposed to be so much fitter? But we were no match for Bromley.
They also took full advantage of the surface - another problem we're going to have come to terms with this season - visitors who are used to 3G.

Agree with this, thought it was Wraight's best performance for us I'd agree too. Just one of those days fellas! Midfield weren't in control, Bromley started hard, were tough in the tackle, stayed organised and done a job on us. Too many stray passes from us, we lacked the creativity to break them down. Yes Piggot hit the bar from a free kick, and we had two half chances in the second half that were fired straight at their keeper, but aside from that we never had too much to talk about. This is football though, put that behind us, win Saturday and it's happy days again!

Yes we lacked creativity and were hoofing the ball forward in the general direction of Pigott. I felt that Jay should have brought Paxman on earlier (and it's not often I say that!), though it was his fault Bromley scored their second goal, doing one of his twiddly turns in the centre circle and being dispossessed - again.

It was a performance best forgotten and hope that we can return to winning ways on Saturday. This year , this league is very open and results are unbelievable !. We have improved the team personel from last season , too early to name players but a few are not up to this level. Let's hope that those sidelined by injuries return soon and maybe those like Finney and Muldoon can be given a chance !!.

Flat performance tonight, lacking creativity, not sure Bromley were any better but got a scruffy goal and knew how to play the ref who I thought was dire. What worried me most tonight was the behaviour of some supporters around me in the North stand, giving Joe Pigott some absolutely vile abuse that I wouldn't even give to the opposition, I had to say something in the end, never done that in 40 years. Not sure why some people have it in for Joe, he was no worse or better than anyone else in the team and came closest to scoring when hitting the bar. Oh well, onto Saturday and hopefully better things. Fans need to get off Joe Pigott's back or he will end up pissing off somewhere else. He is a very good player - why some of our fans think any striker we play should be getting 25 goals a season I can't fathom. Strikers like that are hard to find, and when you do, they want a lot of money. Not many teams have one, believe me. he has scored some important goals, he takes a good penalty and free kick too (he rarely misses the target and I'm sure he will score a couple more of those this season) and he works as hard as you could ever expect a player to do, to win balls and make things happen up front. I think he's had some bad luck on occasions as well in front of goal. To start picking on him when the team is playing badly isn't acceptable because, yes you could argue everyone is entitled to their opinion but it's not okay when it has the potential to make a valuable member of our team feel that he might be unwelcome in some quarters of the terraces. We've had an excellent season so far, so let's take a reality check. We played badly - move on, I'm sure the next game will be far better.

Agree with you 100% jayser ! Joe Pigott is such an important players for the Stones and imo the best striker to wear the Stones shirt since the club has returned to the town he is the lynchpin of our forward line, holding everything together, sometimes feeding of scraps works really hard, good header, excellent dead ball technique, good hold up play, takes plenty of knocks, and never moans, unlike some of our so called supporters

All very true, but I can understand fans moaning at a striker who doesn't actually score many goals!
For all his good points, which are legion, I'm sure the first line in the 'objectives' part of his job description is "score goals - preferably quite a few"...
Perhaps the answer is reclassify him - more of an 'advanced midfielder', than a 'striker'?

Piggot is a 1 in 2 striker, he works harder than a lot of other players in the team.

Top scorer in the league has 8 goals so far, Pigott has 5 if he is in double figures by January some league club will be snapping him up leaving us very light up front. Finding a forward who can finish, is willing to do a shift for the team and contribute to the all-round performance is something every club is looking for from premier league right down to Sunday league some who can score on a regular basis is gold dust, Pigott can do all of this and we are very lucky to have him, he will score big goals for us at crucial times and he'll take a battering from opposing defenders but just get on with it.
