Certain posts on here seem to be doing Delano a great disservice by questioning his professionalism.
I can't see him playing for Woking again, but if he does, I'd fully expect him to give his all - be it against us or anyone else.

I might be shocked by the hostility towards DSY on Cardsboard, if it wasn't for the hostility here towards some of those who didn't quite make the grade this season. Fact is he doesn't want to play there and is apparently not wanted. He does want to play here and is wanted. The only value to Woking is the money they might make for a player who will be free to leave in a few weeks for nothing, or possibly denying us the chance to avoid relegation if they think the player they don't rate could keep us up.

As much as we might miss DSY, I am much more confident that our other strikers can rise to the occasion.
The additions of Reece Prestedge and Stuart Lewis hold the team together. Pax has flourished since Sweeney left and the more experienced duo came in.

I haven't seen a single post that suggests he might not 100% try when he plays for Woking, however he is a human being and like all human beings he performs his daily life better when he is feeling like he is in a good place. I would suggest you have skewed the topic somewhat with that post. He wasn't scoring goals for Woking. He scored a few for us. Them's is the facts. I remember years ago, when we put Smokey Gall up for sale. He couldn't score for toffee until there looked like a chance he could move on. Miraculously, the goals started going in. You can be as professional as you like, the fact is, if you feel unmotivated, you won't get near 100%. It's a mental thing. Anyone who has played competitive sport at some level will understand that.

jayser, I see you are sort of hinting at your competitive sporting credentials but as a matter of interest, what do they consist of ?

I disagree. I haven't seen a single post that suggests he might not 100% try when he plays for Woking. Off the top of my head: "Hardly the encouragement to put in a good performance for Woking" Is that a single post? It happens all over the place all the time. IF he were to play against us, I'd expect a top performance, and if it ended up with him scoring then he may do the refusing to celebrate thing. But not encouraged to put in a good performance? He's better than that in my book at least.

I guess you're including my post in that Ant, but that's not what I meant at all. I don't believe this is a situation that " happens all over the place all the time" ; I think it's quite a unique one - given what's been said about him wanting to stay and us being quite clear we want him next year : He's essentially a Maidstone player who's not allowed to play for us for the next few weeks. Professionalism or no , I think it would be desperately hard to find the extra 10% for an 110% effort to try to relegate us! Add to that the extra pressure that any slip or error would be seen as treachery (and I made that observation before realising that some Woking fans already have the knives out for him). I just seems to me unthinkable that, even if he gets back in their side, he be asked to play against us.

Perhaps all the time was an exageration, but can think of several examples of players scoring against parent clubs, or clubs they've recently had loan spells at whilst preaching about how they want to stay.
Likewise players scoring against their favourite teams, or teams they are well associated with.
All boils down to the fact that he is a Woking player, and IF he is selected for them I would expect him to be 100% committed. Would you want us to sign a player who's commitment could be doubted should any fallout occur?

Merely pointing out that if Woking selected him to play against us then, naturally, he may have some reservations about that IF there was still a possibility that he was to be a Stones player soon after...... I'm not suggesting he has ever been less than professional.

jayser, I see you are sort of hinting at your competitive sporting credentials but as a matter of interest, what do they consist of ? Kent League cricket, football in local leagues, local Kent Premier League darts plus I've played table tennis, pool and snooker competitively for over 25 years. I've always performed my best when playing in a side / team where the 'dressing room' or team spirit was at its best, and you felt wanted as a player. You never want to lose, but strong morale is a huge boost.

Just listening to Woking v Boreham Wood on BBC internet. Delano is playing. The commentators said that Woking were continuously watching him while he was playing for the Stones. Not surpirsing I suppose.

Looking on Woking's Twitter, DSY has been involved in a few attacking movements.
Maybe they will begin to appreciate what we saw in their player.

Shame. Has more than surprised me. I'm assuming he's feeling encouraged to try
