On the map I saw, it just crosses one corner of the ground (the area behind the Town end), it doesn't run down the side.
So, no, the club isn't lying - the main just isn't exactly where a lot of people seem to assume it is.
But, I suspect this is all academic anyway, we're already so close to the river that I can't see us getting permission to expand that way. And, even if we did, I can't see it being too popular with the local, river users, etc. We can get the ground up to 5-6,000ish without building down that side, so I doubt we'll ever need to do it anyway.

Along the river side of the ground. If they need to get to it the river side will be dug up. Am I the only person that ever payed attention at any of the earlier supporters meetings. Jehovah give me strength No. But the Duck feeder has a memory of a goldfish.

And I'm pretty sure that shortly after that he said something about having to build at the Town End if we looked like getting into the FL. It would, after all, be a far more logical place to put a new stand. If money were no object, I would build a 'proper' stand at the TE, with offices, etc under and behind it, and then extend the main stand to the full length of the pitch. As I said before, I can't see us ever needing the capacity that would justify expanding the ground riverwards and building on that side. But I will be very happy to be proved wrong! After all, less than ten years ago I wouldn't have imagined that we'd be back in town, playing in the National and with a (soon to be) 4,000 capacity stadium only 10 minutes walk from my house. (Still seems like dream!)

Riverside even a shallow covered terrace like at Harlow or Oxford City would be a massive improvement and might only involve going back a few metres still leaving vehicle access to the bridge

Some people can't imagine it = So in their minds it's not feasible.

The footpath from the bridge should be rerouted in the opposite direction. That would leave room for a giant stand a la Nottingham Forest overhanging the river, with a capacity of 15,000.

Lets face it if we had decent owners they would have rerouted the Medway by now.

Maybe tied into the ground access and evacuation plan?
