Just reading the Gateshead FC web page: "football should be played on grass, but we won't use that as an excuse", said their manager this week. We shall see.....

Now that I would pay to watch.
Stones 2 - Gateshead 1. Winning goal thanks to an freak bounce to Flisher from the inconsistent 3G pitch.
Attendance 2132, including 32 Maidstone supporting northern monkeys.

Would that be 32 Gateshead supporting Northern Monkeys barnabus? By the way, lucky the monkey hangers of Hartlepool are not with us as well!

None needed, but what about Stones? From the radio, sounded piss poor. Two more gifted goals and no penetration up front. Was it any better at the ground? Given what Sutton were like here last season and then Macclesfield after that, not sure where the next points are coming from...

No excuses. Another paxman error, (he must be responsible for at least 5 goals now) and worgan indecisiveness. It's getting beyond a joke. Perhaps we're coming to the end if the Saunders era.

Would love to know if Jay gave the tactics for the players to kick it long to our strikers all game? Pathetic. Poor tactics or was it the players unable to cope passing the ball to our own players. No movement today. All in all just rubbish.

First half, we seemed to be knocking it about better, not looking to bad at the back, up front nothing much doing though. Gradually as the half went on, the long hopeful ball started to creep in more and more. Concede, heads drop, second half onslaught and fight expected, but naaaa. Pax again, dallying on the ball, can't do the simple pass back/to someone unmarked and start the move again. They get it and we're all at sea, goal! 2-0 down, game over.

Strangely we had a lot more of the ball than in previous weeks but did nothing with it until the final 20 minutes. When are we going to get rid of these tactics to hoof the ball from the defence and bypass the midfielder all the time. What's the point in playing a 3 man midfield to hit it long on every occasion?
Watch their number 16 in the highlights, a master class on how to control the game from midfield. Look forwards, feed players in space and be an outlet to team mates when they're being closed down. We desperately lack an experienced central midfielder at this level.

Yes a Paxman error led to a goal. But to blame him for loosing possession on the touchline nearly 50 yards out. Maybe our defenders could have done a bit more ? Actually felt JP had a decent first half but didn't do enough over 90 minutes Also what about Worgs for the first goal, could he have come out to catch the lob ? Another very simple goal to concede Fact is we have been leaking soft goals for weeks
Not convinced a midfield including Evans and Rogers has enough craft and creativity but I guess Jay was trying to shore things up. It didn't work. Lost out in midfield again today with Gateshead picking up all the loose balls and offering better options for their attacking players
Front line disappointing with Flish not looking fully fit. Surprised to see BJT returning so quickly, somebody else not fully fit (his words).

Not sure how you can blame Worgs! !! Bottom line is we need a stronger midfield and to cut out silly errors. We need to make more of our pace up front which means playing to feet. Personally today's performance was frustrating but we have played worse. It's all about confidence..still think we will be ok - just!

Don't know what you were all watching but I felt we deserved at least something from that. We were the better side, we had a stone wall pen waved away, Loza looked mustard, credit where it's due Yemi played well, the only weak link today was Paxman. I feel like he might be suffering from the same problem Greenhalgh had in his first spell though, thinking he's better than he is, trying to do skills, and it backfiring more often than not. All it would take is JS to tell Paxman to stop trying to do tricks and his standard would improve i'm sure.

First half was ok until letting in that soft goal right on half time. 2nd half was never in it, never won the 1st or 2nd ball, they cut through us like we wasn't there. Dog fight is what we are in, desperate for some players that can craft chances for us, and cut out the silly mistakes.
