Isn't the ebbsfleet fleet thing of the back of having an amusement park next door or something? That's what I thought. It clearly didn't work having dreamland back open for Margate

It's all about this: www.londonparamount.infoThe website timeline says the Secretary of State will make a final decision on whether they can build, in winter 2017. I guess that could be a very important moment for the football club too.

Haven't they started on the new multi-million pound stand at Gravesend & Northfleet? Looking at the plans the ground is on prime estate right by the entrance to the theme park it'll be worth millions if and when the park happens. it'll end up a hotel. short term loss now to keep the locals happy. they'll get gravesend to a certain level then they'll "have to" relocate out of town. owners to end up with the hotel money the fleet to end up with a shitty out of town ground a la sittingbourne and central park. Whilst Sittingbourne's Central Park was out of town, it was certainly not a shitty ground. With a capacity of 6000, and 2000 seater stand , and massive car parking facilities , crowds of 5000 plus went to watch friendly games against Arsenal and Spurs. The problem was not the location but the delusions of grandeur exhibited by Mr. Fletcher the chairman at that time. The ground was sold to the council when the club went bust and is now used for both dog racing and speedway. The lessons of the Sittingbourne project have been learned by other clubs including Maidstone, that you should start with a more modest ground and expand slowly when the funds become available, and not to blow the whole £6,000,000 on your stadium!!!

Depends on how many NIMBIES object. In fairness you could detonate a small nuclear warhead in the GNFC boardroom and it wouldn't make the surrounding area look significantly worse.

Excellent discussion, good points from all the above - the board at its best.
My own view is that the Kuwaiti investment in Fleet is indeed purely aimed at sweetening the locals - creating a favourable impression so there will be more support for the theme park (although I can't quite get my head round the idea of a theme park in that part of the world!). After all, if they'd wanted to invest in football, there are plenty of much bigger clubs around, with much greater potential, which can be picked up for a song. Portsmouth, for instance, must be just about ready for its next foreign owners...
Which means that the good times at Fleet are very sort-term - once the theme park is underway, what will the investors care for a small local football club? And if the theme park falls through, they'll piss off and take their money with them.
As for the garden city - this will take years to build and years before there's a decent enough population for any sort of additional support for Fleet (always assuming the HS1 to West Ham and the cheap tickets to fill the new stadium isn't a bigger draw).
But in the longer term, there is the example of Milton Keynes to consider. At the time, everyone thought the idea of moving Wimbledon there was crazy, and the same arguments were put forward (no history of local football support, fans already supporting London teams, etc), but MK Dons have done well and get very good crowds.
So, maybe one day, there'll be a Garden City FC in the Championship (or whatever it's called by then), with 15,000-20,000 gates, but that will be at least 20 years from now, and I doubt if Northfleet, as we know (and love) it, will have much to do with it. In fact I predict there will be an AFC Gravesend, based out in the fields somewhere, attracting 300 die-hard ex-Fleet fans - bitterly remembering the old National League days...

Why only a small one? That wouldn't even get as far as Dartford - just think how much of North Kent you could get rid of with a decent sized one!

Depends on how many NIMBIES object. NIMBY is an acronym so you don't need to apply the 'remove the y and put ie' when putting it as a plural

Margate have signed two players on loan today
Initially I thought this looked like a good sign for their new financial dawn but Kent Online are reporting the money was 'freed up' within the present wage budget, which might indicate Palace have done a deal for Ladapo
