I thought we were the better team today, lost to a deflected goal in the last min We're still 6 points above them and have got a better chance of going up. COYS the problem with saying we were the better side is it suggests we were somehow robbed. We probably didn't deserve to lose, but saying we were the better side is a bit like picking out the prettiest turd in your last dump

I must agree will didn't deserve to lose but will never deserved to win Tunbridge forwards did not stop running all afternoon, meaning maidstone full backs could not go forward in fear of being caught out at the back, tonbridge swapped players like for like during the last 15 minutes where maidstone seemed to lose all shape and direction, if watt would had stayed in defence had the result been the same after the maidstone defence was on its knees.?

I must say I felt some trepidation about going to the game yesterday after reading some of the comments on here. A big thank you must go to the Angel's staff and fans. There was no nonsense - we were made to feel welcome. Their fans were superb (even the bloke with that blasted drum) and we had lovely big marquee to keep us dry and refuelled at half-time. As to the game - how can we expect to win if we don't create chances? It was the same on Saturday but we managed to nick one. This time they nicked one. That, I felt in my bones, was always going to happen. I'm not singling out one player - we just need more inventiveness and accuracy in the final third. It's not the end of the world just a shame considering the fantastic support the team received on, what turned out to be, a very damp day.

They were poor we were poor, its not exactly full on entertainment for your tenner this season is it? What worries me more is the balance of the squad, we missed May today, could have held the ball by and brought others into play his replacement Ashley Miller, whilst I'm sure is a good player but needs the ball played in behind the defender. Frannie Collin is a No10 so with Harris out on loan we don't have that cover! We have loads of no 10's Greenhalgh, Charlie, Alex Brown can play there, but where is our creative midfielder apart from Brown, who didn't play? Yesterday our midfield was too slow and static, there wasn't that creative spark to play the ball in behind the defence for Miller to use his pace, the first quick passing came 2mins after Brown came on If we are serious of competing at the top this league we need creativity in midfield and better options up front! As for Parkinson's booking for handball on top of his dissent booking in his previous game; words fail me! As with Porky's comment throwing Watt on with 3 mins to go at 0-0, really? Charlie must be thinking why bother!

A draw would of been a fair result. When their goalie had no shots to save how can we expect to win.The support was top draw today both halves the 7 or 8 of us who were in the tonbridge end 2nd half did our best to keep the noise going from both ends.Thought their supporters were fine no ill feeling made us feel welcome. I would like to say that I thought you were a credit to your side on Monday. I'm an Angels fan and wanted to come on here because - even though the game wasn't the greatest - the atmosphere was terrific. It was real football, with genuine passion, a million miles away from the increasingly soulless crap we see in the Premiership. I was standing next to some of your fans in both halves and - though there was a bit of banter - I never thought it would spill over into trouble. You are a credit to your club and as far as I am concerned Maidstone are very welcome any time at Tonbridge. I noticed some posts that we are a troublesome lot. I genuinely don't understand where that has come from - maybe it is a legacy of the past. I have been a regular for five or six seasons and have never seen any trouble. It's good that there is a bit of an edge to games between Angels and Stones. I look forward to the return match when I'm sure you will be looking to turn us over and we will be looking to do the double. Yours, in football.

Nice one Siskinlad and welcome to the forum, good to be dignified in victory but enjoy it, the sort of stuff dreams are made of for you guys and naturally a bit nightmare ish for us.
That said, we didn't deserve to win and ultimately we paid the price for a number of players simply not turning up.

That's very nice of you to say, I've said on numerous occasions on here that I don't have a problem with your club, you may have a couple of idiots but so do we! The bouncer incident aside, I've always enjoyed my visits to Longmead and the supporters that I've spoken you seem good guys and typical non-league fans. Especially the ones that came up to me to apologise after that 'bouncer incident' I hope you come in numbers in the return!

We'll said Tim. The idea that someone wouldn't go to a game because of an incident that has never been repeated is a bit strange. The only other incident I recall was a single Angels fan coming into a terrace full of stones fans and trying to start a ruck. He was told in fairly earthy and humorous Anglo-Saxon where to go and that was the end of it. My only problem with Tonbridge is we always lose against them.

Oh and the MFI nickname is a bit irritating but since we're still here and MFI aren't I can take it philosophically.

Well said Dave - terms like MFI and Mangels should be consigned to the bin now that non-league football is in a great recession thanks to saturation TV coverage of the 'big boys'. I can well remember being part of an 8,200 + crowd at the old Angel ground in the early fifties when Tonbridge played Aldershot in the FA Cup. Now a crowd of 1,100 odd is being celebrated as two and a half times their average! A National Conference seemed a good idea when it was first promoted by Jim Thompsom many years ago but nowadays with increased transport costs regionalised football seems a much healthier idea.

I'm not a fan of the MFI nickname either. To put it in some perspective, I think every opposing team is given a nickname and there is one poster on the Angels site who always comes up with something derogatory about every team. Some people just enjoy having a local rival. There are some no doubt who wish to perpetuate the rivalry with yourselves. But I would suggest these people are very much in the minority. The vast majority of Angels fans respect all opposing teams, although there is nothing wrong at all with having a healthy rivalry with your nearest neighbour, which you are and long may that continue. I'd be delighted if both of us could win promotion and lock horns in the Conference South.

I don't attend not because of one single incident but because the day was so unenjoyable in 2008 that I really don't want a repetition. In addition to the attempted assault on Tim, the numpty up our end of the ground and the group of blokes looking for trouble at the exit, I personally stepped in between 3 potential punch ups, had to negotiate with stewards so that one of our fans could stay in the ground and received some fairly horrible abuse in regards to someone I knew. It was not just Angels fans that I was unhappy with and I posted as such on the night of the game. It was like people had a few sherberts and became monsters that day just because if was Angels v Stones. An utterly unenjoyable day and I sure ain't taking the chance of repeating it. If anyone is mystified as to why Angls got themselves a reputation at that point then they should ask for a revival of the old Isthmian forum where they seemed to be on it at various points such as trouble with Kings Lynn, attacking the Sutton manager after the game, trouble at the play-off game etc etc All denied time and time again. There doesn't seem to be a list of incidents lately and, as I said at the time, I'm pretty sure that 99% of Angels fans will enjoy a dig at us in a fun way and no more. However, in regards to going to Longmead I am once bitten twice shy I am afraid.

I have to say Ade, you're missing out on a decent experience now. Not a game to remember, but the atmosphere and welcome were first class.
