Without wishing to start off a new "obsession with our rivals" thread, I was interested to see that Dartford manager Tony Burman now acknowledges us competition in the transfer market which tends to suggest a realisation that there is now only one league between us. Not so long ago we were in Ryman South and they were in Conf Prem, the gap has closed quite dramatically in a short space of time. www.kentonline.co.uk/dartford/sport/burman-braced-for-transfer-battle-17232/

I don't think we're as much of a threat as ebbsfleet and bromley. But when Elliot turns up I suppose we'll see what he means. The competition is fierce for players in kent with so many teams in and around this level.

Agree with islandstone, also Dover may have to spend to compete in Conf Prem. Would love to see Elliot back in a Stones shirt. If you take away the financial aspect, I bet all these kent clubs mentioned would love to have home gates as large as ours, that alone will make us a threat. Players love to play in front of large crowds.

If you listen to Matt Bodkin's interview he mentions the crowd and how intimidating it is for an "away" player, he did also suggest it makes you raise your game, but it will always be an attractive prospect to play in front of larger gates.

Strange that Bodkin found it intimidating as his side got thrashed here. Shame the 10 teams that drew didn't feel the same

Everyone's going to be out bid by Margate it seems now - even the Stones can't hold on to their stars when they come calling it seems...

Agreed, but actually I think that works in our favour as it will mean the pressure is on them next year and will mean they become quite unpopular with the neutrals. You may have seen Bognor fans last night getting a bit irate because Margate have made enquiries about 4 or 5 of their players. I'm not too sure the Margate fans are that comfortable with the situation either as (to coin a phrase) "it will end in tears"........and a lot of "neutrals" are reminding them of that.

I guess we will see how it all works out over time, but I agree, there is the smell of 'it will all end in tears' about the whole Margate situation...

And right on cue it's announced (as expected) Attwood will be joining them......I wish Zac the best and thank him for always giving 100%
Margate will now have to warm to a player who left them and wasn't very complimentary when he did.
Personally, I'm more interested in the players who want to play for the name of Maidstone United

I respect Jay's comments about Zac leaving, why try and compete and risk the future of our football club by trying to keep players. And in all honesty nobody can blame Zac for accepting an offer (he couldn't refuse) What price Bodkin scoring more than Zac next season?

50/1
I find it strange that Margate want him, seeing as though he'd have been "3rd choice at best" when they lost him last time
Edit: Even stranger is they are describing it as "a bangin signing"
