Perhaps not a quid is very cheap but once you start charging then we would probably see that creep up as well.
Plus I'm not sure how a pound would make a difference with the point you raised.
I'd also say who are we to judge how a family enjoy the matchday experience provided they are not causing issue for others or the club.

Raising the concession rate to 65 will make us (possibly) the only club at our level to do it How much extra revenue will targeting the 60-65 group actually yield? It will be very difficult to police, and I'd suggest anyone saying 'concession' at the turnstiles would be let in without proof The only supporters that this will affect will be season ticket holders, who have probably been our longest and most loyal fans! If revenues need increasing when surely it'll be more effective to just increase the Adult and Concession to £11 and £8 And why would anyone want to go and watch another team just because you aren't happy with something minor at your own club? For the record I'm not a concession and a few years off it! I don't feel this is unfair - This group have enjoyed many benefits in our post war economy & as fans we will all have to accept that retirement starts as 65 plus. Other clubs are just behind this trend.

100-150 kids at a pound each, that covers 30-50 of those pesky 60-65year olds.
The matchday experience? How is it enjoying the matchday experience when some just ignore the "kids must be supervised bit" and use the club and stewards as a free creche for the afternoon?

The thing with free entry for kids is it means they get brought in with little or no interest in watching the game, as we discovered when a terracing module was being used for a sit down picnic last week. Surely families with kids who have a genuine interest in the game would not begrudge paying £1 for them to get in? The club are taking the common sense approach here - children are our future - help families. Very logical what they are doing here.

I've not been on the forum for a while as I became disillusioned with the bickering. The only reason I'm back on is to voice my disapproval at the concessionary age moving. 60 in July meant I would renew my season ticket at the reduced rate. Working in care I've had no pay rise for over 2 years and and my wife is still unemployed and looking hard for another. My outlook for 2014/2015 season will be to pick and choose my home games. I cannot afford them all. The concession move, I think, is self defeating in my instance.

At least you'll be able to come to more away games, Rob

Rob , Your point is well made but the club must have calculated that a certain % of people with similar circumstances to yours would be unable to renew their season tickets & decided that on balance that this was the correct decision for them.

I've tried to put together a summary of what other clubs confirmed to be in the division next year are charging and how the concessions work out. Unfortunately, most haven't released 2014/15 details just yet, so I've used 2013/14 information where they still have that showing - I don't think it should matter that much for comparison purposes. Unfortunately, I don't think Maidstone come out particularly well from it. However, the 60-64 age group are not uniformly counted as OAP by our rivals as has been suggested - indeed I've only found 3.5 clubs where the 60-64 age group get the OAP rate (the half club being for women at Margate - what century is this?) Of more concern for Maidstone I would suggest is how they treat 10 to 18s compared to their rivals! And of course, the standard priced Season Ticket already looks to be the most expensive in the division.

I appreciate their will be some in this age group who may struggle but there are many many in the 20-60 bracket that also struggle. You were able to afford the price of full non concession season ticket last season but cant this?

I'm sure we are on the more expensive side overall but with swanky brand new facilities and competitive team budget most other facilities we visit are a little 'aged.' From a business point of view with the attendances as strong as they are there is no downward pressure on prices yet largely they have remained the same.

Of course when the rest of you catch up you too can have a moan when it goes 66,67 and 70 and possibly beyond. Kevin, you are right in that all the pissibilities would be factored in. Its not that I'm after a bus pass or heating allowance I'm just pissed off being skint and finding all all goal posts are shifting!!

But by changing the concession age to 65 they have taken us away from most other clubs I wasn't saying an increase in the Adult price should subsidise the concession, I said if the club wanted extra revenue it should put it on both, and the kids! It could be argued that the concessions are subsidising a freeze on all other prices!
