There have been ups and downs this year, agreements over 3G, disagreements over the manager and ongoing discussions on Plan B. Would be great to finish the season by all sharing their thoughts on the season be they good, bad or indifferent. I know I've disagreed with some people on here on certain topics but everyone is entitled to their opinions and it'd be boring if we all thought the same!
For me it's been a good year, a solid 7/10. Well done Jay, the team and all the staff at the club.
Positives - We've fully established ourselves a league up and picked up the League Cup. We have built the foundations of a squad capable of chasing automatic promotion next year with the right additions. The fans have continued to roll through the gates and there's light at the end of the tunnel on 3G. The number of academy players coming through is a testament to their coaches.
Negatives - Our form fell away quite quickly post Christmas and we missed the play offs, we need a slightly more experienced mix in the squad. Ultimately the squad was probably a bit too small this year. At times the changes of shape frustrated me (often due to injury I'm sure) but let's play with width next year and stick to the 442 that paid dividends before Christmas.

Pretty much agree with all of that. The lack of width on the right was frustrating, as was the lack of genuine quality of many of the players who occupied that position, only Rory really laid claim to it consistently.

A ok season on the whole to many injuries sadly and a little more depth in the squad and maybe we would of been in the play offs
Positives-great first half of the season, a good result winning the RD cup.
Negatives -form fell away at the crucial time of the season , to many injuries sadly ..........
Just hope we manage to build on the squad in the close season hope Micky P's op goes well and we resign him next year.. Well done stones Saturday are going to be boring for a few months now.....
Hope you all have a good summer
Jay and the boys have a good summer you deserve it and thank you for the entertainment

Highest league position since reforming. Highest crowd average since reforming. Biggest trophy won since reforming. Can't ask for much more than that really. Roll on next season. Have a good summer...

Agree with the points made above. A really good season, but you can't draw 10 league games at home and go on an horrendous run of away defeats ( in 2014 ) and hope to reach the play-off's.
You just get the feeling that with the momentum and resources behind the club we should be doing better.
In 2014/2015 we need to justify the excellent playing surface at The Gallagher by playing football, not hoof ball. A fit Orlando / Rory / Mr Holding Midfielder / Mr Fit & Cultured Centre - Back will be really helpful to achieve that.
Huge crowds at The Gallagher are great, but we need to maintain upward progress to keep people coming back.

"Frustrating" would be the first word that comes to mind and when I look at the final table I can't genuinely believe we are the 7th best team in that league (I can't believe Dulwich are the 6th best team either) however the table doesn't lie and after 46 games we are indeed the 7th best team.
Despite this I don't think we are a million miles off being the best team, we have played the runaway and deserved winners 4 times (over the season) and drawn twice, lost once and won once. We have beaten the runners up home and away, without conceding a goal. The team in 3rd, equal in the head to head games, team in 4th we beat at home and lost to a 90th min winner away. Away to the team in 5th we outplayed them for a good half an hour with 9 men. The reality is, 2 out of these 5 teams will be playing conference south football next season and we won't.
Let's not forget either we gave the run away leaders of Conference South a pretty big scare as well.
I think it's quite obvious where we've been let down, the team finishing 22nd and relegated took 3 points off us and scored 4 against us, the team who escaped relegation yesterday took 4 points off us and scored 4. The team in 18th took 4 points off us and scored 8, the team in 16th took 4 points off us.......I could go on, and I'm under no illusion Jay is aware of this, but it's those games against the lesser sides that have cost us dearly......and that is hugely frustrating. If you look at the Macron performances of the month, on three occasions this has been awarded to our opponents for matches against us.
Having said that, the injuries have of course played their part, the 3G issue has been a distraction, and even Frannie who scored 31 goals admits it hasn't been his best season based on chances missed.
The irony of course is we had our worst spell when arguably our best player was playing for us and having said that I do actually think we've had a decent season, perhaps a season that's been more important to things off the pitch than those on it.
We will be up there next season, I have no doubt, and if we can turn some of those draws into wins and not crumble to the "lesser" sides I'm sure we will be ok.

I would agree with all that a great year, especially on 3G .We now have light at the end of the tunnel. With a couple off experienced new players joining we should be challenging next season. I would like to see a bigger squad in both ways not only adding a couple of players ,but a couple of bigger stronger players as i felt in a few games we lacked height and strength. The biggest downside for me were all those Home draws ,so many points dropped.

If the right sort of player had become available I'm sure the club wouldhave moved on it but we didnt need what was effectively a sticking plaster signing

Disagree there has been plenty off time to find the right type of player 5 months in fact since the drop in form. Jay to slow to react a lot this season only he can change things but sat on it too long . I will also be bold enough to say we need better coaching our set pieces have been dreadful . We need to sharpen up all round the ' nice season with an inexperienced manager' can't be used next season .

I have lost count however the times Jay said he was looking for players and said he wasn't going to sign just anyone. Mid season with players committed quality ones that will strengthen the side dont unfortunately grow on trees. I would also say there is no way at the time you can know how long a dip in form is going to last or how injuries may occur/resolve themselves. Very easy with hindsight but not at the time. Our form dipped in January thats only three months we were still pretty strong until then.

I'd really like to see us get an experienced ex-pro in the side. If the Bowyer talk was true, then we should still pursue that. Wealdstone had Little and McGleish this season and I guess the experience of those players helped immensely in their success.
