Bloody hell, Calais, don't you ever have a short answer to anything? That's twice I've fallen asleep on this thread

Same as Wealdstone they think we are denying another ryman team the chance to go up. So come on Jay and the boys lets shut em up the best way and do it on the pitch. The chances are the final would be on grass and we can play on either Wealdstone will go up as champions so I can't what they're complaining about. As for the rest, if they don't finish in the top 5 they also have nothing to complain about. Sent from my HTC Desire C using Tapatalk but if we win the play offs and are not allowed to go up, are we saying that the losing finalists will be promoted? If they are not, we WILL be preventing another club from promotion, and as anon-league fan that doesn't sit right with me!

Surely if we win the playoffs then the other teams were not good enough to earn promotion? Also,it is the Conference not us that are stopping a team being promoted!!!

Hmmm, I wonder what the reaction would be on here if it was the other way round?

Well thats life and I'd say tough! They have the opportunity to beat us in the semi if they dont have enough in them to do so they didnt deserve to be in the final.

Whilst I agree with you Steve, I think we all know the other clubs will blame us for "rocking the boat" I haven't wasted my time in looking at the Conference but I suspect it is full of "they knew the rules, bully boys, money talks etc etc"....I did take a peek at the forum a few weeks ago when they were talking about who was coming up into their league which I found interesting. However, on the subject of "rules are rules" I have to say I didn't get the impression from many of the posters on that forum, and judging by the language, they were the type of people who have spent their lives "abiding by rules" And by definition, because of their stance regarding complying by rules, they adhere to regimes and dictatorships and agree that anybody who dare challenge the regime should be executed? All we have done is challenge the rules and ask the rules to be brought in line with the higher footballing authorities. I suspect, if you could be bothered to search that forum, you would find the same posters complaining about, the weather, postponements, quality of football, clubs finances etc...with little disregard for the relationship between these factors and 3G. I imagine these same people will be covering the forum with expletives when the national side drop out of the World Cup this summer with shouts of "they need to look at grass roots, how can Spain, Holland and France produce players who are so much more techically gifted"................it would be far too ironic to suggest they are in search of the "missin link" when it's there for all to see. Personally I have a degree of sympathy for the clubs around us, who could miss out on a promotion spot should we win the play offs and then get promoted and again we would get the blame, however, have any of these teams really played 38 games this season, in the knowledge we wouldn't be allowed promotion and therefore discounted us? (if we're 2-1 up in the play off final against, Dulwich or Bognor with 5 mins to go, (knowing we couldn't get promoted) I would like Jay to instruct Worgs to go up front and Frannie to go in goal and encourage JP to catch the ball in the area) Other clubs need to also remember this is something Oliver and Co have been campaigning for over 2 years, and it is the conference who have dictated the timing of this decision by refusing to engage on the subject of 3G in that time. It make stink of sour grapes in the opinions of others, but we are challenging a rule that doesn't even appear in successful footballing nations across Europe.....how dare we !

In which case surely the same could be said of a team that dont have enough in them to beat us un the final dont deserve to be in the conference

Like a reprieve from relegation when a team doesnt deserve to stay in a division but they do. All the clubs entering the playoffs will know the situation before they begin. Im sure none would refuse to enter based on Maidstone and the possible issues. The playoffs have rarely been considered fair but are great for keeping the season alive and all that. If it was so that the losing finalist goes up if anything that gives the sides more impetus to reach the final.

Would be interesting with us (hypothetically) being the form side watching everyone trying to avoid finishing 2nd!

Its still possible we could finish 2nd with all our competitors still matched against each other.
Be great to have the home final like last year the place rammed again

Gotta admire your optimism. Offer me 5th now and I snatch your arm off.
Sadly it's all academic - nws has already told us we're finishing 8th

This from Pink Panther on the Dulwich forum:(if we don't go up, I hope it's not at the expense of DH)
Whilst I fully support Maidstone for not backing down, and hope they are allowed to take their place in Conference South should they win the play offs, we could have the ridiculous situation whereby our club finished 2nd (or 3rd) then loses a play off final at home to Maidstone, who then prevent us from going up even though they can't go up themselves and a side like Whitehawk who had a poor season in Conference South gets an undeserved reprieve.
Of course the real villains of the piece are those Conference clubs with their ridiculous Luddite attiude in refusing to play on the 3G pitches that can be used for Champions League and full international fixtures. Surely the FA has to pull rank here and bang some heads together?
