Not that I give two hoots what other clubs think/feel about us, but this decision isn't going to make us very popular IF we should win the play-offs and the IF the Conf still deny us promotion, meaning we, in effect, have denied Dulwich/Hornchurch et al a shot at promotion. We would not have denied anybody anything!

Whilst this is good news from our point of view I can't help feeling the FA have made a complete mess of this and are not enforcing their own rules. Surely they either had to make a ruling enforcing the acceptance of 3G in the Conference, or they had to rule against our appeal on the grounds that the FA rules clearly state we should not be allowed in the playoffs as we don't meet the qualification criteria for the next league up.

This is a fantastic bit of news, however I cant see us being able to get to the play offs, win the play offs or being ready for promotion It does put pressure on the conference, to change the rules during the summer and allow us a good go at promotion next season

This is fantastic. Now the FA have said we are allowed to play in the playoffs, they must let us have promotion if we win it.[br Not necessarily, apparently Stourbridge were in a similar situation last season in as much as they competed in their playoffs despite being ineligible for promotion

I fear this decision may have come a few weeks too late, unless our form takes a massive upturn, I can only hope the players and team prove me wrong I really do and achieve a place in the play offs

Maybe the FA need this season to end before they can change the Standardised rules for next seasons league competitions. If that is the case and the FA get it done Before the AGM's,then maybe we could meet the criteria.Whatever happens though, the 3G4US clubs are very close to a final victory.

Well - here's a turn-up for the books (I always said 'as-it stands'), which would appear to be good news for us (would someone please pick Ant up from the floor, and revive him....

Well - here's a turn-up for the books (I always said 'as-it stands'), which would appear to be good news for us (would someone please pick Ant up from the floor, and revive him.... )However....(didn't you just know that was coming?......)
The FA's ruling, as reported, raises as many questions as answers. It is clear that the Isthmian attended the meeting to support upholding their position - hence the 'we will now support the Club' - which is made clear in the Rules of the Isthmian League (Appendix B) 'any Club which does not qualify for promotion shall be excluded'. Rule 20 states that any change to the Rules shall only be made after FA approval, following a special resolution passed at the AGM, or a specifically called EGM.As far as I am aware ( please correct me if you know otherwise) there has been no such resolution and, therefore, no change to the Rules of the League. So the FA have (effectively) said to the League - 'we're going to ignore your rules and, therefore, oblige you to do the same'.Given that it renders the Rules of the League pretty meaningless (if this rule doesn't apply, then what about any other rules one particular team might not like?) I'm surprised the Isthmian wouldn't appear to be appealing the ruling, on that basis.Unfortunately, I can't find the actual ruling by the FA (as yet) to see what justification they give for their decision - that will make very interesting reading.I would assume (no stronger than that) that it is based on consistency - if you allow 3G in your league, then it has to be allowed at all times.I would also assume that the Isthmian shall now have to call an EGM to amend the Rules.
And let's not get carried away - the ruling only applies to the Isthmian play-offs; it doesn't alter anything with regard to the Conference. The FA would not be in a position to take a similiar stance towards the Conference, as it's own Policy obliges the Conference to take a vote, so both FA and Conference are in agreement. The Conference are under no obligation to accept us, and would undoubtedly claim that there would not be time, for next season, to call another vote anyway. If the FA wanted to treat the Conference in the same way, as they have the Isthmian, then they would have to change their own policy first (to remove the vote requirement for FA approval). And I don't think the Conference would go as quietly as the Isthmian appears to have.....
We really need to see the FA Ruling to see if there are any implications for the Conference..... Calais, keep it coming, are you suggesting the conference will say nothing regarding this subject?

Exactly, it's now up to the players to show us what we know they can do, keep us in the play off position, come on Jay and the boys lets give the conference a bloody nose

If other clubs have not finished the season in at least 5th place, they cannot be denied anything by our taking part in the play off's. However if we do grab a play off place now we will certainly be the form team.

People on the Tonbridge forum dont seem at all happy about this news Same as Wealdstone they think we are denying another ryman team the chance to go up. So come on Jay and the boys lets shut em up the best way and do it on the pitch. The chances are the final would be on grass and we can play on either
