No doubt calais will be on soon to tell us that this is not actually good news... Something along the lines of.....Maidstone are eligible to compete in the playoffs, win them and be put forward for promotion to the conference. They(the conference) will welcome Maidstone United because they have been given the choice of ripping up the 3G pitch to compete in its competition.

Try the official site...
Also text from Ryman site:
The Football Association has ruled that Maidstone United can take part in the end of season play-offs and the Ryman League is backing the governing body’s decision to allow the Kent club to compete for promotion.
Maidstone United won the right to enter the play-offs should they finish high enough at an appeal hearing at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday. With the Football Conference’s current ban on artificial turf pitches still in place after the competition’s clubs voted against lifting it in January, the club had been set to be excluded from the Ryman Premier’s play-offs.
Following the removal of that obstacle, the club is now expected to lobby the Football Conference again to reconsider its stance, a move that will be supported by the Ryman League.
Ryman League Chairman Alan Turvey and Vice Chairman Nick Robinson both attended the appeal and will now support the club’s ambitions following the key ruling.
Chairman Alan Turvey said: "The Ryman League is entirely satisfied with the decision and we support the policy of the Football Association towards artificial turf pitches.
"If Maidstone United go on to qualify for the play-offs and subsequently win promotion we sincerely hope that the Football Conference will consider this decision by the FA and its publically stated support for artificial turf pitches and allow the club to play in the competition next season."

Now back to football...at least it may give us a couple of extra away games, but if and a big "IF we win the play-offs"...we could have another massive disappointment of not being promoted...but onwards to next season !

What a great result. Forward thinking from the FA and pure class from Oliver. Hoping that this now gives us an additional boost in the remaining games. COYS

According to "others" it allows our bullying crusade to continue.......probably just jealous they wont be able to play on our pitch as we could be in the league above them.....irony at it's finest

Not that I give two hoots what other clubs think/feel about us, but this decision isn't going to make us very popular IF we should win the play-offs and the IF the Conf still deny us promotion, meaning we, in effect, have denied Dulwich/Hornchurch et al a shot at promotion.

This is fantastic.
Now the FA have said we are allowed to play in the playoffs, they must let us have promotion if we win it.
Now they are involved it will be for the good of the game, they have made this decision and know what trouble it may bring.
They have backed it,and taken it out of the conference bods hands.
The FA have got to order promotion to take place if we win it.

Indeed - difficult to see how the Conf can try to go in the face of the FA. With Merthyr on their way to Step 3 (5 points clear, 6 games to go)... Harlow, Sutton Coldfield and Romulus all top-half Step 4 sides (Harlow good for a play-off spot)... the Conference vote being proposed not by us but by Sutton and Dorchester... Whyteleafe (and others?) putting in 3G, this is NOT just about Maidstone United. It's good for the game in general. If some of our local rivals want to be anti-3G just because they're anti-Maidstone / scared of falling down the Kent football pecking order, that's their sad lookout.
