I suspect the stand will sit behind the the Springfield terrace at two and a half meters high to the first row of seats and with the wider walkway at that end you should get a line of sight over that terrace.

Or maybe a two tier stand with terracing at the bottom and seats above. 2 and a half metres must be roughly the height of the existing terrace.

I watched West Ham for years high up behind the goal in the BM, and it's actually quite a good way to see the game. You get the usual confusion with foreshortening at the other end (constantly thinking the ball's going in when it isn't, or not understanding how it does, when it does!), but you get to see the pattern of play much better than you do from half-way, even high up.
So I'd be up for one of those seats. I've liked coming back to terracing after all those years of sitting down at UP (not that you do actually sit down that much!), but at 60 my knees and feet are killing me half way through the second half. Time to join the granddads in the easy chairs...
Only problem with a stand at the north end is that the sun is going to be in your eyes practically all the game.

But why this emphasis on seating? If it's numbers you want, I would have thought you can get more people on a similar sized terrace, and terracing must be cheaper than building a stand. £1m seems a hell of a lot to add to our debt, without making too much difference to our income.
What's really need at the Gallagher is some form of low terracing along the sides, so that everyone can see the game, and an extension of the town shed to give more cover. I'm sure you could bring the capacity up to 3,000 just doing that (even taking H&S into account!).

And...
I would also have thought that extending the main stand seating over that slope to the left would be much cheaper than building a new stand.
But what do I know...

best to fill it up with standing supporters and put a row of deck chairs at the front then!
