For me not knowing whether we can go up or not, can we play in the play offs or not has took the shine of the season for me. For me singing the Stones are going up is a good feeling but seems to be lost amongst the not knowing whats going on. The buzz what was about last season has gone this and the reasons are no one knows whats going to happen at the end of the season. Last year the enjoyment and nervousness of the playoffs was amazing and to win them was brilliant. No direction this season at the mo in my mind anyway is probably why the team has dipped in form. IMO if we knew that we could compete in the play offs this season there would be a diffence in atmosphere both on and off the pitch.

The FA rules state that you can't play in the play-offs if you aren't eligible for promotion. And, as the Conference doesn't allow 3G pitches and is vey unlikely to change its mind before the end of this season, we aren't eligible for promotion. Therefore we can't play in the play-offs. Mind you, the way we're dropping points at the moment, and with Lowestoft and Bognor in form and with games in hand, this could very well be purely academic.,

We are are still growing.
Crowds are up on last season,at home and also away.
Our Grounds been extended after the first season, with further plans to build more.
Everyone is aware of us and our plight for Success.
Everyone wants to play for us ,We have the making of a fine team.

So just to clarify we should all be happy with our current position because we are back home and in a lovely new stadium, also we are doing a lot better this time around compared to our last time in the Rymans Premier

Rome wasn't built in a day, change is around the corner, you must feel we are much closer to the required change being made, compared to the start of this season

If this is the case this will stop good players wanting to join us and I reckon it will have an affect on season tickets and attendences as well. But I do reckon it will get sorted way before then. If we can't go up this season or be in a position to I reckon a lot of the good players will be off, IMO some of the players have already ambitions to leave already! I hoped to be proved wrong.

I wouldn't get too caught up in the idea that we won't get good players. If we can attract the likes of Worgan and Collin to go down a level, that shows the club is attractive. Talented non-league players who don't quite have what it takes to play as full-time pros can kind of live the dream at the Gallagher, in front of good crowds. For anyone who resigns themselves to a career outside the Conference Prem, we simply have to be offering one of the most attractive places to play football. Worgan and Collin's move highlights that. They both decided they would rather play in front of 2,000 people on a superb pitch in a brand new stadium with excellent facilities than a division higher with 400 people and very average facilities. Also, the academy and youth set-up is superb and will keep producing highly talented players to keep the team going.
I fully understand the frustration you feel Binsey, it's been an incredibly long way back and supporters like yourself who have stuck by the club right through that process will all, I am sure, feel frustrated if we get stuck again for a bit but I do think it's temporary and that the Conference will eventually have to give in, even if through being forced by legal means. Unfortunately that sort of legal process takes a long time to come to fruition and so in reality, we must accept we won't be promoted this season. What we must do is stay behind the club and the team because there will be great times ahead if we do.

Binz is correct if we enter next season in the same situation then season tickets sales could well drop, and we could find it more difficult to find the right players and end up with journeymen !!!!

Let's not get confused with journeymen and players who are accepting they are never going to make a good living out of football and have to focus on careers etc outside.
The conference makes high demands on players time and this in most cases isn't reflected in the rewards they receive and so it's a natural decision to drop down a league in order to get the football/life balance. Let's see what the Dartford captain does in the summer.
I agree with Binsey in that the not knowing has taken the shine off the season but as has been said before, this season was geared at challenging the powers that be on the subject of having 3G pitches approved and I for one am proud of the way Maidstone United have played their cards in this minefield of politics and opinions. In reality the decision was never going to be made (realistically) in time for next season. We have been the talk of non league football, our name has appeared in articles in national newspapers, forums all over the land have been discussing the plight, the FA Chairman even gave us a mention........off the field, although it feels we are still along way off, we have moved mountains.
On the field I agree we haven't been great, but we haven't been terrible, and unless anybody knows the facts and figures surrounding playing budget I would be very surprised if Jay had been given a budget to go all out to win a league we couldn't get promoted from.
I'm in no way suggesting we should accept 2nd best, but I do think we need to remember the bigger picture here and I for one have no problem with playing in the Ryman Prem next season. And I'm confident the Conference will make an announcement regarding 3G pitches for the season after next.

I am more than happy that we are home, great crowds, fantastic people that run the club and playing in the Ryman League. It would not bother me either if were to play in this league again next season, I will still be buying my season ticket for whatever league we are in. However, most fans like to see a succesful team going up the leagues and down again, thats the fun of it. We are a club with great ambitions and I do believe we can be back in the football league within the next 5 years or so. All I am saying is the buzz and excitment of last season is not there this and we are in exactly the same position league wise. In saying that I do believe Oliver Ashes hard work will mean 3G pitches will be accepted next season or the one after.
