I wouldn't get too caught up in the idea that we won't get good players. If we can attract the likes of Worgan and Collin to go down a level, that shows the club is attractive. Talented non-league players who don't quite have what it takes to play as full-time pros can kind of live the dream at the Gallagher, in front of good crowds. For anyone who resigns themselves to a career outside the Conference Prem, we simply have to be offering one of the most attractive places to play football. Worgan and Collin's move highlights that. They both decided they would rather play in front of 2,000 people on a superb pitch in a brand new stadium with excellent facilities than a division higher with 400 people and very average facilities. Also, the academy and youth set-up is superb and will keep producing highly talented players to keep the team going. I fully understand the frustration you feel Binsey, it's been an incredibly long way back and supporters like yourself who have stuck by the club right through that process will all, I am sure, feel frustrated if we get stuck again for a bit but I do think it's temporary and that the Conference will eventually have to give in, even if through being forced by legal means. Unfortunately that sort of legal process takes a long time to come to fruition and so in reality, we must accept we won't be promoted this season. What we must do is stay behind the club and the team because there will be great times ahead if we do. Binz is correct if we enter next season in the same situation then season tickets sales could well drop, and we could find it more difficult to find the right players and end up with journeymen !!!! The kind of people who won't turn up if we can't be promoted aren't really supporters are they. Probably better of relying on those who care about the club rather than the transient glory hunters.

It happens to every club, look at Pompey for example (sorry Ant). So stop fishing for a reaction, you are pathetic.

I thought I was a real supporter but as I don't get to many games I must be a fraud. Or something. Who cares.

What matters is whether you would still come regardless of whether we could be promoted. If the answer to that is no then you're not a real supporter.

I'm afraid that is what dave does on this board when it comes to the newer supporters, trigger. I wish he would stop it

Just depressed myself by working out the end of season top 7, based on current positions and form - taking form over the last 4, 6 and 8 games.
I'm afraid we come 6th in all cases - i.e. not in the play-offs.
Wealdstone, of course are champions - by a margin of between 8 and 14 points, and Bognor and Lowestoft take it in turns to be 2nd and 3rd (Lowestoft twice, Bognor once).
After that it's Dulwich on 4th and Hornchurch 5th in every case.
And we are always 6th - we miss out on the play-offs by between 3 and 6 points.
Obviously this is only an exercise, and we all know form will change (ours can't really get much worse!), and of course a win on Saturday would give us an edge. But still these 'results' are meaningful in one way, in that they clearly indicate that we are not going to get into the play-offs unless our form improves fairly drastically. We have no guarantee of being in the play-offs just because we had all those weeks at 1st and 2nd.
If you take our current form over the last 4 games, we need to win at least 4 games out of the last 10, or, for our form over the last 6, we need to win 4 and draw 1. But if you take our form over the last 8 games, we need to win 6 and draw 1, just to get in the play-offs.
And if Oliver is right and the 3G case isn't yet lost for this season, we NEED to be in those play-offs.

I started when stones were playing at sittingbourne 1st time round so I pass as a true supporter. I would fail a head examination though.

The football club need's all supporters old and new its time this type of arrogance came to an end !!! I don't see how that is arrogant, just realistic. The club can budget based on the supporters it knows will turn up regardless of what league we are in or whether we can be promoted. Anyone else should be considered a bonus. Also, I didn't say anything about old or new supporters, you invented that bit just so you could deliberately misrepresent what I said so you could start an argument.
