A suggestion put forward by Sennockian at tonight's supporter's forum was to put forward an e-petition for a debate on 3g. This seems a good idea. Maybe we could do this promoting 3g in general not as a Maidstone thing and then put it across other forums to encourage like-minded fans to sign. What would be a good question/suggestion for Parliamentary debate and would people be prepared to get the message out to encourage people to sign? My opening gambit for a question/suggestion for debate is as follows:
"In order to help our national sport from the ground up the FA and Premier League should be politically encouraged to accept and encourage all forms of playing surface that are accepted by Fifa and Uefa, as this would only bring us on a par with successful footballing nations such as Spain but also help to promote sustainability amongst football clubs."
Let's hear the views of others and work out how we could orchestrate encouraging others to sign throughout the country.

Suggest there are many of us who either are not originally from Maidstone or are now not living in Maidstone and will have links to other clubs or know fans of other clubs who may be able to help. Could we draft up a list of all the clubs in the league/non league and try and understand who could look to engage with supporters/forums of each club. Between us all I think we'd be surprised on how far we could reach and if 20 or 30 of us were involved word could be spread quickly.

In order to help our national sport develop from the ground up, the FA and Premier League should be encouraged to accept the use of all forms of playing surface that are accepted by Fifa and Uefa, including the use of 3G football turf. This would not only bring us on a par with successful footballing nations such as Spain but also help to promote both sustainability amongst football clubs and the technical development of players of all ages and at all levels.

I know why you said "from the ground up" but it does sound a bit clunky. Can anyone think of something more elegant? At all levels? In the community?
Probably worth mentioning more countries or clubs already using 3G, and the consistency and quality of playing surfaces in the last bit.

"from grass roots level through to the Premier League and International sides"? I knew this phrase would appear! We have to avoid it surely?

Sorry to rain on your parade chaps, but what has any of this go to do with the government? Never had the phrase "flogging a dead horse" been more apt.

No, but in this situation they are irrelevant. The government aren't going to tell the FA or the league's what surfaces the should allow. It's not something that's ever going to be subject to legislation. All the government could do is make suggestions.

They can pass a law making it illegal to ban artificial surfaces in the UK. What does make it a waste of time however is the fact you need 100,000 signatures for them to debate it. That, folks, ain't ever going to happen in a million years. If it got accepted I reckon 2000 at best.
