They can pass a law making it illegal to ban artificial surfaces in the UK.What does make it a waste of time however is the fact you need 100,000 signatures for them to debate it. That, folks, ain't ever going to happen in a million years. If it got accepted I reckon 2000 at best. In theory that's true, but that would be akin to passing a law telling people what colour socks to wear.

No government is going to waste valuable parliamentary time passing a law on what surface to play a sport on. If they did in this case they would probably cause severe problems for the FA, as FIFA are pledged to suspend the membership of any association whose operation is subject to state interference
